I have used a variety of amps, and found the Magni 3 to an accurate amp. That is what I value the most. Amps that have a "sound" to them are to me amps that change the sound like an nonadjustable EQ device. I don't like that.

I have, Clear and Utopia pads. Both made them worse.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Flows, open or closed, is how they use different pads that allows tuning them to individual taste. Throw in the 1.1 upgrade kit and you can make these sound just the way you want them to sound. Nice!

I agree! The reason for my post was I got a little miffed for being called a weirdo because I was using a THX 789 with a Yggy. I absolutely love the THX, in fact I have two of them. It is an awesome amplifier and is likely gonna keep me very happy for quite a while.

I run my Yggy into my THX! Even more shocking is I LOVE THE WAY IT SOUNDS!! The Yggy is a very good DAC, the THX is a very good amp. Done. :ksc75smile:

LOL.....I love my SEs! Great frequency response through the highs, pounding bass when called upon. (Hope that helps.)

I give my Utopias a touch of high EQ with a Loki. Makes 'em a little better, no loss of detail whatsoever.

I used the Roon EQ briefly, found it awkward and cumbersome to use. The Loki sits on my amp and I simply adjust it as I wish while I'm listening, or switch in it or out of circuit, simple. For me, a wealth of functionality is of no use if the interface is awkward. i have two Lokis and use them...

Got mine in October and so far no creaking either flexing them around or wearing. Now that I said that......

The Jot is a good amp. In regards to the amplifier section only, I prefer the 789 over the Jot because of the control layout (sound reproduction is such a personal preference I won't go there). The 789 has 3 power levels with front panel control the Jot has two levels with the switch on the back...

I'm not ready to come to a conclusion on the Elegia, but I am, so far, finding the mids a little too forward. I feel the Clear are better balanced, they pound the bass and sparkle the highs when called upon. The Elegia don't lay it all out to hear, if you want to hear the bass you have to...

Its this point in the discussion where personal taste answers the question. For me the Clear, driven directly from the THX is a very nice combo. Its not a matter of "Detail" or "Air" but a matter of how I prefer my music. Now the Utopia driven by the same audio chain, gets a SLIGHT EQ up at 4k...

Ah yes....its been a while since I had my Jot. I certainly agree with your comments on the Clear, an amazing headphone and I agree its not bright at all, just accurate.

I'm extremely pleased with the THX 789 amp. Keep in mind the Jot is DAC/Amp so you may find a better value if you don't intend on using its DAC.

I have found my 789s to be accurate and seemingly very low in distortion which helps with clean treble. I also agree with you on the use of a Loki. I have two 789s that I use daily and each has a Loki sitting on top.

For EQ I use Schiit's Loki, in fact I have two of them in use. Great little unit, nice with a bypass switch on the front so its very easy to switch the EQ in or out of the signal path.
