SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

One of the best things about paying yourself a compliment is that others are saved the bother :) As has been reported, the really outstanding matter is this: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00206130 Like the cracking-hinge issue of some of the 1000x sets, will the problem...

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

Creative Tech's Super X-Fi could well find its way into some headphones; this could be the answer to the limited sound-stage of closed-back/sealed devices. Anyway, there's a sxfi android app to try although, in its selectable list of headphone profiles, the XMs are not included.

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

Seriously, it's occurred to me that I could just rip off the headband padding off the xm3 and have a better-looking, lighter, more comfy headset. Wish the Sennheiser Momentum 2 headband design could be used with the Sony, but keeping the close-to-the-head look of the XM3. If the headband padding...

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

By now, it seems well-known what the 2019 model must/mustn't feature: no XX-Bass, (much)improved controls, improved passive isolation, improved Bluetooth connectivity, (further)improved ANC, lighter weight, easier & cheaper-to-replace ear-pads. Last, but not least, the fuggly thick&narrow...

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

This app seems to work well here for aptX/M2. The M2 sounds much more neutral with Neutralizer, although volume goes down a bit. EQ seems to have become a dirty term, but if Sony can incorporate Neutralizer into its Headphones Connect app then its headphones might be even more quickly...

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

As your video reports, M2 is the hardcore noise-blocker while M3 is for comfortable enjoyment of music. Initially, the M2 seemed weirdly compact with fat and snug earpads and slightly tighter clamping, but I've come to appreciate why. With the right app, musicality is great, too. Maybe someone...

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?

Seems like the M2 was made as small and snug as was possible to fit average-sized ears, minimizing earpad surface-area exposure to outside noise and maximizing earpad wall-thickness. M3 will surely address users with larger/warmer/sweatier ears. The clamping force of the M2, for me, is...

    Beats Studio3

Sorry for going offBEATS, but this came up in this thread some time ago, so I went to the Sony site to check. Sure enough, the wh-h900n has "titanium coated diaphragm". However, the wh-1000xm2 uses "aluminum coated LCP" which is also used in the top-end MDR-Z1R. LCP seems to stand for Liquid...

Sony 1000x mark ii - huzzah!

Firmware 2.0.1 up on South-East Asian sites. Google Assistance toggle for the Ambient/NC button on the left cup. Sounds just as great.

Sony 1000x mark ii - huzzah!

Having read that constant use of the XM2's travel-case causes more stress in the hinge of the left ear-cup, I've begun to store them earpad-side up for roughly half the time, to even the stress between the 2 cups. I also try to use minimum leverage on the hinges by coaxing the cups into storage...
