Loki Mini Impressions
Agreed, but perhaps not understood? I understand/understood that the Loki goes between the DAC and the Amp. What I'm asking/not understanding (and acknowledging this might be a REALLY dumb question) is if I have a DAC (like a MIMBY, for example) and an Amp like a Jot that supports Balanced XLR...- psuKinger

Loki Mini Impressions
Slightly different take/angle on this very same question. I've got a Schiit Jotunheim with the built-in D/S DAC. I am toying with the idea of adding an external MIMBY and Loki Mini to my collection. The price and (alleged) performance upgrades are *very* appealling to me. The only thing...- psuKinger

Rank the Headphones that You Own.
For Critical Listening, In-Home (No-Privacy-Needed), Tethered to my best Amp 1. Audeze LCD-2 Classic - Anywhere between 95% and 105% as good, in terms of sound quality, as any other pair I own for all styles of music I enjoy. 2. Sennheiser HD-6XX - Outperforms the Audeze for...- psuKinger

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
Follow-up to my previous post, I spent a brief amount of time tonight A-B comparing my Audeze LCD-2C's off the two different DAC/AMP combo units mentioned (Portable fiio Q1 and desktop Schiit Jotunheim). I tested on two very different songs. A 16/44.1 lossless FLAC rip (using Exact Audio Copy)...- psuKinger

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
I happen to own a pair of LCD-2C's, and also have available both a Fiio Q1 and a Schiit Jotunheim to drive them with. I have not spent any time A-B comparing the LCD-2Cs via both power sources, but I have done at least a little A-B comparing of a much cheaper Planar Magnetic (HiFiMan HE-4XX) on...- psuKinger

HD Tracks is so bad.
Anybody ever buy a 24/96 file and then run it through some software to convert it to 24/48? I think that process should be pretty smooth/painless (no interpolation/creation of "new" data points, just remove every other one)... but in practice I want to make sure that a piece of software isn't... -

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
This is great news. Will the DAC still receive an input and output via the SE outputs while I have the amp set for inputs from the "SE inputs"?- psuKinger

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Hi! Thanks, I really appreciate your input. I've got a decent background and some "nice-ish" gear when it comes to Speakers/Subs/AVR, and what I'd consider a nice "whole home audio" situation as a result, but as you can tell I'm a newbie when it comes to Headphone HiFi and I'm definitely...- psuKinger

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Apologies in advance for what is likely a beginner question, but I just recently bought my first pair of "high impedence headphones" (Sennheiser HD 6xx) and now need to purchase my first "real" desktop DAC/AMP (my portable Fiio Q1 isn't going to cut it). In the past, in other aspects of my...- psuKinger

FLAC
As others have suggested, almost all of the FLAC files I have I made by ripping CDs (losslessly) using software that can create FLAC files (I use Exact Audio Copy, fwiw). As a previous poster indicated, FLAC files are in fact "compressed", they're just losslessly compressed such that when you...
