Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
Music should always be the focus. All the gear is just a tool to add some spice to the mix imo. I'm happy most days just listening to some earbuds or other mid fi stuff. I sold my 2C as it just never managed to hit the mark for me completely on its own without some form of eq. I honestly get...- BrotherKathos

Porsche Design Sound/KEF Space One and Motion One
I've just recently picked up the space one wired versions and I'm really pretty impressed. I like the signature alot. They are my favorite closed backs I've got at the moment, and for my taste handily beat my Meze 99 noirs and Senn HD 598 CS. The space one has a very nice low end with plenty of...- BrotherKathos

JDS Labs EL Amp impressions
Its been a while since I had either piece, but the el amp did sound good with the 2c. Highs were neutral but did get a bit shouty as you raised the volume- BrotherKathos

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
Yeah, I agree with the 2C in the technical aspect. I would probably steer clear of using Nighthawks for mastering purposes. Its also a matter of pairing with the right gear as you mentioned. The Hawks imo pair beautifully with my thx 789 and mimby eitr combo. Its the only combo I have out of all...- BrotherKathos

Nighthawk wins on comfort hands down. 2C might as well be a torture vice by comparison. Hawks are by far the better headphone for forgetting about everything but the music. You never really forget the 2C’s presence.- BrotherKathos

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
Ahh, Ahh, I can't make up my mind. Some days I think the lcd2c is better, but then days like today I think the nighthawks are. I think it comes down to which ones I like more without eq, and that goes to the hawks without a second thought. Settled! Mind made up! I think......- BrotherKathos

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
Well I finally got back to my 2C. Listened to them for a couple of nights and I have to say as a purely technical headphone they are truly great. The problem for me now is I've just been spoiled completely on the comfort of my Nighthawks. The clamp on the 2C that never bothered me before is way...- BrotherKathos

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I can’t give you a complete apples to apples comparison to my ss setup as even though I’m using the same dac, I’ve got it setup a bit different. I’ve also not even used the stock tubes, they are still in the bag lol. What I can say is that when using my thxaaa 789 amp, smsl m9 dac, and the hd6xx...- BrotherKathos

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Just got a Darkvoice 336 se and hooked it to the hd6xx. Never going back to ss. Using Rca 6as7 black plates and a GE 6sn7gtb preamp tube and its great for the price. Got it from Massdrop and even with aftermarket tubes its less than the stock price on Amazon. Took the hd6xx to another level for...- BrotherKathos

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
Got the Hawks, and they pair great with my converted semi portable smsl M9. If anyone wants a balanced cable for the hawks, the one for the hd700 actually works perfectly. Sold by kk cable on amazon for $60 Way better than the stock crap cable imo. Its ironic that the worst part of the hawks is...- BrotherKathos

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
I'll be reunited with my 2C soon. Its going to be a tough fight for it to compete with my nighthawks though. They just fr my preference too much, and are also much easier to drive for portable applications. And the comfort is just on a whole different level compared to the 2C. I'll probably be...- BrotherKathos

SMSL M9 - Discussion and Support Thread
Just got a balanced 2.5mm cable so the hawks can hook to the M9. I do prefer the balanced output to the unbalanced one, but its not enough of a change to make it worth spending money on another cable imo. I got the cable so I can use the hawks with the M9, and also with my balanced thx when the...- BrotherKathos

SMSL M9 - Discussion and Support Thread
I’ve found that the M9’s brightnes can be completely taken away by just lowering the source volume a bit. This is at least he case when using my iphone. If i take the volume down two clicks from max, the M9 completely smooths out so much I’m honestly surprised. I can directly test it back to...- BrotherKathos

SMSL M9 - Discussion and Support Thread
I turned the m9 into a semi portable hehe. Pairs great with the Audioquest nighthawk carbons btw. The brighter character of the m9 livens up the hawks a bit without ruining their character. Very nice sense of space and depth with this pair.- BrotherKathos
