    KOSS ESP-950 Thread

The thing about the Woo Audio WEE is that it is so dependent on the amp it is paired with. I am getting great results with my WEE paired to my MFA power amp. But I agree completely, the Koss driver doesn't do the Koss phones justice. What I don't get is why they don't sell the headphones...

    KOSS ESP-950 Thread

I own both the Koss e-stats and the SR-007 Mk1...there is no comparison. With a really good amp (I am using a WEE and 75-watt speaker amp) the SR-007s blow the Koss away. Much more detail, better bass, and a much more airy sound stage. Don't get me wrong I do like the Koss, but there is a big...

    The Stax Thread III

Can your elaborate a bit on this ? I have been using a WEE for about 5 years now, with no issues whatsoever. It is as good as the amp you are driving it with. When I first starting using the WEE I was stunned on how much better it was for my 007 MK2s, even my old SR-404s sound better...more...

    The Stax Thread III

That's what I was hoping to hear. I have both Stax 006t and a McAlister Audio EA-8. The McAlister amp really makes the SR-404s come alive, they sound much better with it. But it doesn't drive the SR-007 Mk2s that I have. So I'm pondering getting an SR-L700...and wondering if my amp will...

    The Stax Thread III

Are the requirements for the amp to drive the SR-L700 about the same as the other Lambdas? I currently use the SR-404 & the amp I have drives them quite nicely, they sound quite good, but I've heard that L700s are another step up. But I am bit concerned that maybe my amp won't drive them...

    The Stax Thread III

Yes, that's it! I didn't have a torx driver that size but after I read your reply I used a very small sized drill bit...just had to tap it a few times. And was able to tap it back into with the replacement case holder. Thanks! The best thing about this is that you can still get replacement...

    The Stax Thread III

Has anyone ever replaced the headphone case holder on a SR-404? I'm referring to the black arm that attaches to the headphone case & allows the headphone case to pivot, it is attached to the headband. The black arm is broken, so I am trying to remove it from the headband; it looks like it is...

Please help me with my survey (about storage)

When I first read the subject line for "storage"...I thought well maybe he means relating to physical storage of music.  So when the options came up I really needed a ZERO option because I DON'T do computer audio at all...hell, I rarely even listen to CDs...my music is solely analogue based...

    How many folks considering Vinyl?

"As someone who works in a music store, there's definitely a very large upturn in vinyl sales recently." I haven't noticed the upturn that much myself, most people still think I'm a nutcase when they find I'm into vinyl...or they think I'm just someone who goes around to Saturday yard...

    Omega II with Lesser Energizer?

    Tuberolling a Stax SR 006t

Everytime I try it, I get this message to enter the characters displayed in that window, when I do, it tells me they don't match! Is there some instructions for dummies to use the search engine...?

    Tuberolling a Stax SR 006t

Has anyone around here done much tube rolling on the Stax '006t? I've been running with the original tubes for 2 years now, I think it is time to move on...tube rolling in my phone preamp & amp (especially in the phono stage) definetly makes a big difference....I'm interested in the...

Replacement EarPads for Stax Electret 'Phones

I will e-mail Audiocubes, maybe they can give me the dimensions of the earpads. I bought my SR-4040 system from Audiocubes2 from Japan, they are a good/reliable shop to deal with. $19 for leather pads seems to reasonable to me...thanks again Grant

Replacement EarPads for Stax Electret 'Phones

I have a pair of Stax Electret cans that are quite old of course...they would be a lot more comfortable with newer earpads (the old ones are REALLY flat) Does anyone know where you can get suitable replacement earpads? They don't need to be original replacements...as long as they fit OK...

Who's new to vinyl & why?

The more people that get into vinyl, the better for the longer term viability of the format (availability of cartridges/tt's and LPs). It's nice to read this stuff...I have never forgotten the dark days of the 1980s when everyone was going digital...I thought records would completely...

Fond Memories of My First "Hifi" Headphones

They say you always remember the "first". I remember my first "real hifi" headphones that I bought...they were these Koss "Phase 4" headphones. I bought them in 1976...don't think they sounded as good as these Koss "Pro" phones that they made but they had this capability to adjust the level of...

Using your Own 'Phones on an Airliner...

...I've got this really long airflight coming the end of November...it is about 30 hrs (to Australia). For portable use I always use an old Walkman, (don't laugh too hard) with a pile of homemade metal tapes and Bose portable headphones. The last time I was in an airliner, the jack for ear...
