Lyr 3 - The new Coherence™ and Continuity™ hybrid amplifier from Schiit - Impression & discussion thread

Has anyone used this bad boy with the phono stage yet? I'm thinking about picking up one so I can go from TT -> Lyr 3 - [preamp] -> KEF LS50W.

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Haha all good. ATA is homegrown in Melbourne, only recently have spread their tentacles to other states. There is probably only a limited amount of headphones meeting the criteria you desire at the moment, but they do stock the Focals and Sonys. Also give Bang and Olufsen a look (H4's, H8i). No...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Dude, if your profile is accurate you can goto Addicted to Audio in Kew or Minidisc in Chatty. You have two AWESOME stores to try the s*** out of everything your heart would desire! I've literally bored myself from hours of trying out anything and everything. And the WH-1000M2 are $363...

    e-infin SE846 are fake

I'd side with the grey import commentary. I have no experience with this website, but that price isn't "too good to be true" as it's basically street price for 846s in Australia.

Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

Very exciting development with the 1200. Now here is hoping that it only comes in at around $3k AUD.

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Spot on. People forget at the end of the day this is still a Kickstarter. If you're worried about the non-performance of the product, or that it will fall short on features, just don't back it. Wait until full retail.

Gear Patrol definitely isn't a review, it just reads like a regurgitation of readily available information. I wouldn't rely on it at all.

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

Murakami is one of my idols, very unique dude. I picked up this cloth from the recent Doraemon exhibit in Tokyo (20+ artists doing their take on Doraemon). Not a cheap buy (~$100USD) but I feel like it was a bargain!

I had asked this question earlier - see quoted. I also use my portable amp through other items without dedicated line-out, and it seems fine. Can't imagine there would be a significantly material difference with the R3.

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

Thanks for the impressions! I wonder if ATA are brave enough to have one on demo when I'm down there in June....

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)

Amen to this. I remember when I was first got "serious" about portable audio, it was like Alessandro MS-1, Audio Technica AD700, ER4's and HD600. ER4 and HD600 were always in the stratosphere for me (say $400 - $500 AUD). Now there's relatively new companies demanding $3k+ for IEMs? Just like...

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

Damn! Looks much nicer in person than it did on ATA's site. Look forward to your impressions!

    1. Poly is ~4X more expensive (in Australia). Heck, the combo leather case is almost the cost of the R3. 2. Uplift in features (now and potential future such as Tidal offline and LDAC) 3. Device neutral 4. Mojo/Poly stack will struggle to work effectively without a third device (i.e. phone)...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

I think it's a factor of trying things out in this hobby. People want to try tubes, BA, hybrids, planars, Chord's FPGA etc., and following that people can adjust what suits their needs. Everyone wants to try out a Mojo/Hugo purely because of how hard they're hyped, and that they're the only (?)...

I'm in that boat at the moment, with my Fostex HP-V1. I will eventually consolidate into a single DAP given that all I use is IEMs.

HIBY R6 - DAP Dual DAC Balanced Out - Great Reviews and Over 500% Funded @ Indiegogo!

I think the point here was that Penon is not meant to be selling them (yet) under their distribution agreement - but still sold one contrary to HiBy's instructions.

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones

Terrible idea - all the noise leaks in and you have to have them at really aggressive volumes (and even then!) to enjoy.

FiiO’s Upgraded Bluetooth Amplifier BTR1K: Qualcomm QCC 3005 BT chip, BT 5.0 and aptX /aptX LL/AAC supported, RGB light, NFC pairing, Type C and USB DAC

Quite interestingly, I decided to test something I saw in the ES100 thread. I switched from AptX to SBC (my BTR1 is v.1 so no AAC)... no hiss. Sound noticeably has less separation, but for my uses (background noise in the office or exercising) this doesn't bother me at all. Just worth noting...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

That's the current status. From my understanding Spotfiy would need to open up the API to allow a native version of the application on an otherwise unknown OS. On the other hand however, if you use Spotify on any Bluetooth enabled device, you can use the R3 as a receiver for the signal which...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

For one of the early reviewers (@Hawaiibadboy) or maybe @Joe Bloggs, is there any concern about double amping with using the line out - as most reviewers comment that it's not a true line out.

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

It'll only be more expensive once it's in local distribution. "Custom fees" are simply your country charging VAT on the goods incoming, something that would you be charged if the goods were distributed locally. Just because you're being slugged it now, doesn't mean it magically goes away when...
