I had asked this question earlier - see quoted. I also use my portable amp through other items without dedicated line-out, and it seems fine. Can't imagine there would be a significantly material difference with the R3.

I think it's a factor of trying things out in this hobby. People want to try tubes, BA, hybrids, planars, Chord's FPGA etc., and following that people can adjust what suits their needs. Everyone wants to try out a Mojo/Hugo purely because of how hard they're hyped, and that they're the only (?)...

I think the point here was that Penon is not meant to be selling them (yet) under their distribution agreement - but still sold one contrary to HiBy's instructions.

Terrible idea - all the noise leaks in and you have to have them at really aggressive volumes (and even then!) to enjoy.

Quite interestingly, I decided to test something I saw in the ES100 thread. I switched from AptX to SBC (my BTR1 is v.1 so no AAC)... no hiss. Sound noticeably has less separation, but for my uses (background noise in the office or exercising) this doesn't bother me at all. Just worth noting...

It'll only be more expensive once it's in local distribution. "Custom fees" are simply your country charging VAT on the goods incoming, something that would you be charged if the goods were distributed locally. Just because you're being slugged it now, doesn't mean it magically goes away when...
