Looking for closed back headphones for around £100

I haven't tried the AKG-K550's but one thing I remember reading from a review is that they have less bass than ATH-M50x's. The M50x's are not too bass heavy like Beats headphones, but they do have some boom (enough bass to support hip-hop/electronica, if your also into that sort of thing)...

Looking for closed back headphones for around £100

I listen to a lot of rock and I have been very happy with my ATH-M50x's. They cost $140 on US Amazon right now, and they are very highly rated.

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

I've answered most of my questions by doing some research. I found that 44kHz is normal for streaming HiFi music, but I can bump that up to 96kHz if I use "Master" quality on my desktop app (it will not allow this on my phone). I've also found sites where I can pay to download high quality CDs...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

I got the Dragonfly Red in the mail today and everything sounds great on my phone. I haven't set it up for my PC or laptop yet. I think now I'm going to be limited by the quality of the music I'm playing. I've been using iTunes with Apple Music and I believe the songs are 256kps and 44100 Hz...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

I went ahead and got the DragonFly Red instead of the FiiO A5. It seems like it will fit my needs well, I just wish it didn't set me back $200. I love how its small and simple and will require no thought to use it on any of my devices. I'll post an update once it gets here and I finally try the...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Trying to relax but I was browsing more and looked at the Dragonfly Red. How does it compare to the FiiO A5 for driving the HD600's? It seems like it would be a lot more convenient because of it's size, but it also costs $70 more.

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

It's weird how these are dac/amp but they cost less than the A5, which is just a amp. I think based off all of the info you have given me I will stick with the A5 and see how it goes. It should arrive Saturday. I remember seeing in one of the Amazon reviews a person mentioned that they liked the...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Thank you, I like the pictures. I am a visual learner so it helps. But even with the the metal arms retracted this thing is snug on a bug and still feels like its going to break sooner or later. I'll keep it and return it if it breaks. I hope it stretches out or something, if that is possible...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Ok thank you! That was simple. I tried them on and you were right, they did not break. I hope the clamping force reduces with wearing them a lot. I'm on the cusp of buying a FiiO A5 but I still don't understand what this means >.< If I'm using my phone, how do I make it so it has a 2V...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Ok, thanks. If it breaks when I try to put it on my head, would a 2 year warranty cover that sort of thing? Sorry for the basic questions.

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Well I finally took it out of the box and there is no way this thing is going to fit on my head! It looks like it's for a baby head. I don't even want to try it on because I think it will break. It also has this huge connector that obviously wont fit into my phone. I looked at pictures of the...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Sorry, what do you mean by line level? Are you sure the A5 is enough juice? I saw it recommended on one page 150ohms but the HD-600's are 300ohms. Also, would I need a different type of amp for my computer, or could I use the portable one?

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

Hello. I've never had nice headphones before, and have never used any equipment that requires an amp. I kinda bought these on a whim without doing much research because I thought I could just plug them in my phone and be good. I'm trying to use the HD-600's with my computer and my iPhone 6s...
