If you are using WinXP try turning off the built in recording ability and see if the disc still revert to CD-R. I don't tink using the CD-RW as a floppy will work since probably the SlimX can't read the UDF file system used by inCD or any similar software.

Well, RedBook is the standard audio cd format so it's very easy to find HDCD is an improved version of the standard cd featuring 20bit audio if I remember well, and I have never see one of those cd in stores here. Hope this helped
