I am getting about 30 or so hours from my X5L( haven't really timed it ). I have mostly FLAC recordings. I know it last a lot longer than an ipod.

The two 80mm fans that I found to be really quiet IMO are the Nexus and Scythe fans. They cost a little more but are worth it. Plus they last forever.
