Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements
Around the 3.5mm connection in the left cup there's a pretty large gap that will cause a channel imbalance if it isn't sealed, could very well be the cause for the difference you're hearing since its effect becomes more apparent with the more damping you apply. Some non-drying clay preset...- dnalekaw

MrSpeakers Alpha PRIME: Impressions and Discussion Thread
Just like Wes said the Alpha pads were the 'best' I've tried - they seem to have a pretty dense foam which helps with dynamics in the bass. ZMF oval proteins were the best 3rd party pads aside though, still not as impressive as the stock ones in the bass and the 8khz peak was exacerbated a bit.- dnalekaw

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
If you have a leather hole punch and some sharp scissors you could do a bit of a handy-job to shorten the strap :) I had the same issue where it was slightly too long & I was already fine with comfort for less lengthy listening sessions but shortening it ever so slightly made for a huge...- dnalekaw

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
The aeolus pads are from a different oem with a slightly different density foam and a thinner lambskin compared with the unverse lambskins, honestly though I've never felt anything as soft as the leather on the universe pads. I reckon Zach should venture into the upholstery business, a nice...- dnalekaw

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
As far as frequency response goes the different woods are supposed to be almost identical, however the density and amount of pores in the species can have subtle changes to the way sound is presented - harder woods like padauk tend to be more 'immediate' sounding and more 'focused' in comparison...- dnalekaw

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
Okay so my current mood is existentially pertubed. I have the new stock braided ZMF cable as well as the OFC cable and since I received the Atticus I had only used the OFC upgrade cable, until yesterday. Immediately I heard a difference and put it down to placebo but then I kept swapping and...- dnalekaw

Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements
Recreating the alpha dog mod is pretty easy! You'd need to get open alpha cups somehow and some wool felt for the rear driver but apart from that there's nothing special about them - just follow the guide for the open alpha online. Of course you do need a t50rp mk2 though. The alpha prime is...- dnalekaw

"Open Alpha" T50 3D printed headphone project from MrSpeakers
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322518595045 These are almost identical to the headband screws for the T60rp, anything that's 3.5x19mm or similar should work.- dnalekaw

"Open Alpha" T50 3D printed headphone project from MrSpeakers
Nope, the t20 / t40 / t50 / t60 all use the same driver, the only thing that's different between them is the actual cup and the baffle foams! You'd get the same result if you use any of them to make an open alpha- dnalekaw

"Open Alpha" T50 3D printed headphone project from MrSpeakers
For anyone interested, here's what the inside of my Alpha Primes look like: Rear damping follows lattices of paxmate sound deadening foam, with stiff felt over the rear bass port. Both Alpha Primes I have had do not contain any wool, instead just a single cotton ball rolled out and laid...- dnalekaw

ZMF Ori (Omni) - Upcoming Semi Open Flagship
Absolutely, it has sufficient power and I've always personally preferred solid state for planars. I feel the liquid spark is slightly closed-in sounding but it does well with the Ori nonetheless.- dnalekaw

Yes, you need to remove the three inner screws on the front of the baffle first, then pry open the two aforementioned clamps to free the driver.- dnalekaw

ZMF x Vibro & ZMF Blackwood Discussion Thread.
The classics use the lambskin pads, which on the blackwood, seem to bring the soundstage in a little, slightly increase the highs, and make the sound more 'romantic' feeling. I personally really like the blackwoods with two holes plugged and cowhide pads. As for the sliders, the only way they...- dnalekaw

@ohcrapgorillas I have to admit, I nearly snagged that padauk pair of Blackwoods but decided to go with a pair from Zach (nice looking cans btw). Onto the headphone, they really are fantastic. I was a bit surprised to see that the cups do not articulate but they fit my head very well. Cowhide...- dnalekaw

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers
Get a grip man. Listen to yourself. You say voltage and current is independently influential towards the sound but this conclusion is based on usage with different devices and a multiplicity of other variables such as topology of the amp itself. How the hell you are comparing this is beyond me...- dnalekaw

^ Well I would be lying if if I said you hadn't influenced the purchase of at least a few of my cans, and I love every one of 'em. All this Blackwood talk is making me excited to get my hands on my pair! That pencil trick is very clever! I have to say, I'm a bit of a pad freak in that I dont like my pads compressing as well. Previously I just placed one of the pads in the opening of the other when storing but I'll have to...- dnalekaw

MrSpeakers Ether CX - $899 from Massdrop
About 60 hours did it for me. They were unquestionably thin and bass-light at first. I also found that they didn't eq well at that stage but keep with it and they become much warmer and the high-end, less fatiguing.- dnalekaw
