6xx need good voltage swing. All the portables run at 5v batteries so max voltage swing is well under 5v. That's why I think 6xx sounds best with desktop amps. But then again at moderate volumes I guess it drives well.

Are you sure capacitors are added in the output stage to offset dc voltage and not to regulate power supply? Because why would zishan do it , capacitor in signal path =bad.

Ok in that case I retract my conclusion about op impedence. But what I said about btr3 is real though. Maybe the device has good low end after all. Google gave me wrong value .

My 598 have 50ohm impedence . When I connect it to btr3 which has 40ohm impedence the bass comes alive and is a different headphone altogether. The bass goes deeps without hurting other frequencies. I don't get the same bass performance from my lower impedence amps like fiio q1 or nx4 granded...

I think 650 performs well only with amps that have high output impedance. Mine with the topping nx4 which as 0.9ohm impedenyce dosent sound all that great with 6xx. Isn't there some theory about maximum power transmission when maximum power is transmitted only when source and device impedence...

How do you compare hd 6xx to hd 598s. How much better you say 6xx are?

I think they have changed something with the newer hd650. My new 6xx sound like bad and inferior to my hd 598. Maybe because they are using some shared parts with 660s , they new 650 sound closer to 660s than older ones. I really don't like the new ones. They sound conjested and sharp. Worse...

Seriously! Burn in is myth. Many have tried to find a difference between a burned in and a brand new headphone and none could measure a difference. Or are you saying our ears can detect the difference that measuring equipments cannot, which don't make any sense. It's all in your head.

My hd 6xx seems odd sounding . Conjested and veiled. No details. No seperation. No soundstage. Do you think i got a bad unit. Should i get a replacement. Does Senn cans differ that much between units.

How could you possibly like hd650 more than hd 800. Hd 650 sounds like the 90s. Bassy, mid focused, more thick sounding. Made for music in that era. While hd 800 sound open,wide , clean treble,more modern. Made for modern music.

Mine too. I even doubt there might be some difference in hd 650 variants that some people gets a different sounding unit,ends up not liking them.
