I have an iFi Pro iCAN for sale. All inputs and outputs work and it is in excellent shape. Original box, power supply, remote, and RCA cable are included. At low output levels, there is some L/R channel imbalance present with this amp. I sent the unit to iFi to take a look at and they said it...- Faucet_Evangelist

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
I'm not convinced that the first setup I tried wasn't broken. I mean, they swapped that amp by the time we came back, so clearly something was up. But yeah, when it was working properly I was definitely impressed.- Faucet_Evangelist

LCD3 vs Ether Flow
That's good to hear, I didn't really like Aeon that much when I tried them.- Faucet_Evangelist

LCD3 vs Ether Flow
Thanks for the input! As I'm doing more research I suspect LCD2 or 2C would probably suit my tastes better than Aeon/Ether. I definitely will spend some time comparing them at the show this weekend!- Faucet_Evangelist

LCD3 vs Ether Flow
Good point. I did get to try quite a bit at RMAF, but I have gotten a lot more into the hobby since then and I didn't really know what I was looking for in a pair of headphones at that point. I did enjoy Clear but Utopia is on another level. Unfortunately out of my budget by a bit. Plus, a...- Faucet_Evangelist

LCD3 vs Ether Flow
I am shopping for my next headphone upgrade and wanted to get some opinions before the NYC CanJam. I have owned Fostex TH-X00 and HiFiMAN HE560 in the past and am looking to upgrade to something higher-end. I will be driving them with a Jotunheim w/ phono, which I know probably could use an...- Faucet_Evangelist

Bass head headphone recommendations
I used to own the Ebony, and I liked them a lot other than how fragile they are (had the finish on two pairs scuffed a bit in shipping) and the nonremovable cable. Unfortunately I haven't tried the Purpleheart, but I did go out of my way to get the Ebony for the improved sound signature because...- Faucet_Evangelist

Adding a battery power supply to a dac.
The problem with lead-acid batteries is that their output is very poorly controlled. They can easily reach 18V, which will certainly damage your DAC, and you need a special lead-acid charger for them. Instead, I'd recommend something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075QZQSS1 Rather... -
Adding a battery power supply to a dac.
There shouldn't be any reason it wouldn't work. Just make sure you get the polarity right on the connector if you're attaching a new one for the dac. Could you send a link to the battery pack you're using? -

Balanced cable for HE-560
I recently purchased a pair of HE-560s (with the 2.5mm miniplugs) and am looking for a balanced (4 pin XLR) cable to go with them. I'd like to spend less than $150, but a lot of the cables I've found are significantly above that. They have mostly been litz cables as well, which I don't think I...- Faucet_Evangelist

Fostex TH-X00 Repair
Hello, I recently damaged my beautiful ebony TH-X00 (combination of an awful case and clumsiness) and am really hoping there is some way I can repair them / have them repaired. There are some scratches and chips in the earcups, ideally I would simply replace the full earcups and get a Pelican...- Faucet_Evangelist

<$500 Amp for TH-X00 and ie800
Thanks for your responses and sorry it took so long to get back, busy day. I should have thought about this more beforehand, but now that you mentioned it I doubt I will be using IE800's much with the desktop amp. I have a Mojo and I really enjoy that, it's just not quite enough for the...- Faucet_Evangelist

<$500 Amp for TH-X00 and ie800
Hello all, I am looking for a desktop amp and am on a bit of a budget. I already joined the drop for the Cavalli CTH, but also want to consider some other options (especially since it won't ship until the end of February). Currently I have Fostex TH-X00 and ie800. Both are fairly sensitive so...- Faucet_Evangelist

Hey, my name's Brian, I have recently been getting into audio and I think now would be a good time to make an account. I went to RMAF and was amazed by some of the setups there and decided to start a collection of my own. So far I'm set up with ie800, Fostex th-x00 ebony (thanks @Galm !) and a...- Faucet_Evangelist
