Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC
If you don't mind I would like to post some high quality pics of my AK70 MKII that arrived today :) I have a very positive impression after playing a little with the UI and testing wifi and bluetooth connection (aptx HD). Maximum distance where the bluetooth connection is stable is about 8-9 m...- Zenturio

I think I should buy it now... The sooner the better. Actually I like to use something how it originally is. Covered this beauty in a leather case is a lil sad. But the player seems to be scratch-prone?- Zenturio

Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC
No it doesn't work, its just not only the diameter but only a special connector, it's professional. The cable has to be changed completely...because low quality can not turn into good quality with an adapter only, it has to be connected directly to the headphone. Edit: I'm not 100% sure about...- Zenturio

Thanks! That calms me down haha If you want to use the balance output is it not possible just to use a balanced 2.5 mm to unbalanced 3.5 adapter or do you need to change to whole cable? I have a Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro and it just has a normal unbalanced 3.5 mm connector... Unfortunately I could...- Zenturio

Like we already know the battery could be an issue, you have to be very careful what to do. Is it possible to lower the brightness of the display? That would help to extend the battery time a lot. Btw I've just ordered my AK70 MKII :grinning:. For me it's a lot of money and my first real DAP...- Zenturio

That's awesome...It seems like you need the exact version of this program "MQS Streaming Server" for your DAP. Download site. The AK70 should also work for the MKII, right? And can you decide to transfer to internal storage and micro SD card?- Zenturio

@LondonGecko and @Giraku Well, for me it would be sad if I let this feature unused, because I don't have Tidal and would like to add more and more music from time to time, then the transfer time should not be too long with wifi. Maybe you can still find out how well it works, it should be easy.- Zenturio

I have a beginners question... How easy is it to transfer the files between the player and your computer through wifi? Do you have to log in the wifi network and then? I use windows 10.- Zenturio

Really nice to hear...I am totally convinced now... I will order soon. I hesitated because I want to order it from popular shop in Scotland, because it's a lil cheaper there, and a return can be stressful :)- Zenturio

Sry, I'm not precise enough with my English. I meant different kinds of music, because maybe the sound quality is depending what kind of music you hear. And I want to have an allrounder :)- Zenturio

Unbalanced output should be a lil weaker if we trust the hard facts: MKII 2.0 Vrms vs MKI 2.3 Vrms if we trust the hard facts. Is it also possible that the AK70 MKII owners try to hear a huge variation of music genre? And try to test the bluetooth connection through aptx oder aptx HD please :)...- Zenturio

That is a very positive sign, thank you! If you recognize new differences to the other players, please let us know :D Battery? hm that could make trouble, the battery was replaced by a bigger one, but the dual DACs will eat up the extra battery power... Acutally is it possible to save Tidal...- Zenturio

And is it possible that a AK70 MKII owner can check the bluetooth and wifi connection? The connection stability was criticized by many at the MKI. I plan to use aptx HD so it's a very important point :)- Zenturio

Yeah maybe I was just too fast with my recent and not yet answered post and was almost dissapointed, I thought that many of you could have the AK70 MKII already in their hands...because it was released already one or two weeks ago :D I read a lot and there is a significant improvement to the...- Zenturio

Astell&Kern AK300 vs AK70 MKII aka AKM AK4490 x1 vs Cirrus Logic CS4398 x2
Hello friends of audiophil music, I’m new here and I don’t know how to post this in the “Portable Source Gear” forum. I'm sorry if I have done mistakes in terms of posting properly. I would like to know which DAP you would choose and why. The 2 candidates that I would consider to buy...- Zenturio
