My preferred choice would be something with the same form factor as iBasso DC01, so that I can use the tablet while listening. It can be bigger than that, but not like the Topping, would take up too much space in the bag unfortunately.

The bit-perfect setting is within the UAPP app. I am unsure to whether or not you will get a 44.1KHz sound with Spotify or the Android standard 48KHz, since I have not done any measurements on Oreo - With Nougat you had to enable a flag in Build.prop for that to happen (Root needed).

Buy UAPP and enable bit-perfect mode (i.e. disable all audio enhancements and the like). You really won't need any mods for a good SQ!

Not really no, the main difference will be the characteristics of the sound but in terms of volume it'll be around the same. I think that you would only notice a difference if you had all three phones and switched between them on the same song.

Is it worth getting the MQA add-on for V20? :) I mostly listen to DSD(SACD) and FLAC in various rates, but I'm finding a lot of interesting albums in MQA quality.

That's a bummer to say the least, I wonder how that came to be? And yes I agree, volume steps of 5 did not go well - especially in Spotify in high impedance mode where the it could be the difference between too low or too high of a volume. Now I gotta get over the habit to turn on my display...

I am really enjoying Oreo, the 1 increment volume is a blessing. It might be placebo but I do find the sound more.. Lively or, perhaps.. Serene after the update, using UAPP exclusively. Vivaldi - Spring II Largo performed by Isaac Stern in SACD is truly sublime.

Hey, Let me just start by saying that the "Quad DAC" is enabled and in use in both normal, external and high impedance. It is only the gain & output vrms that differs between these modes. Why some people like to argue that external or high sounds better is that louder volume is often perceived...

The difference is that V20 have a 5.7" display vs 5.2" on Q8, removable battery on V20 and waterproofness on Q8. Also, no root available as of yet for the Q8 (So no 16bit 44.1kHz support through stock player).
