chinese eBay SPDIF DAC? might order one...

Hello, has anyone tried this cheap DAC? -> Mini HIFI SPDIF+OPTICAL DAC--PCM1793+DIR9001+OPA2134 bei eBay.de: CD Players Recorders (endet 27.09.09 18:09:52 MESZ) Uses a Burr-BrownPCM1793 and an OPA2134 opamp. I'm thinking of ordering one 'cause I really need to go away from onboard sound...

    detail freak! Beta22 or Bijou?

Based on your answers, it seems like I would have to go the b22 route... Would it be really _that_ expensive to build a 3-channel b22 with stock parts? Or maybe I'll just settle with a m^3 and a proper power supply to satisfy my need for a proper SS amp... that should be much more affordable...

    detail freak! Beta22 or Bijou?

Hi folks, First, a bit of history... My first DIY amp was a SOHA (kit by Jeff). It worked out pretty well and I used it with my HD600, DT770 and some other cans which are long gone by now That was in the beginning of the year, IIRC. I then added JISBOS to the output, but didn't found it to...

Hakko 936 VS 937 10 more watts worth it?

I own the Aoyue-clone of the 936, and it has plenty of power for all regular soldering jobs. I say, go with it, especially for the good price.

Hip Hop and Pop Headphones for Under/Around 100 Dollars

Go for the RP-21. Good price, good sound; I would say they're quite universal and appropriate for pop music. I would avise you to also go for a pair of Beyer pads for those, as I found the fake leather pads quite sweaty and uncomfortable for extended listening time.

Okay, thanks. I think I'll stay with the 250ohm ones then. If not the coiled cable was so annoying...

    The two versions of DT770.

Hi there, I got an 250ohm DT770 (the old 80's-ish one), but could swap them for the 80ohm version if I wanted. Has anyone compared this exact two headphones? What difference is to be expected? Easy-ness of driving them doesn't concern me, since my amp is powerful enough. Greetings -Pascal

HD600 swivel got a bit loose

Hi everyone, I've got a slight problem with my HD600s. The swivel where the earcup locks in to the headband is a little loose on the left side. This means, if I hold the headphone in the air and move it a bit, the left earcup swings around. Just a cosmetic issue, I know... But if anyone...

    Hakko 936

I got the Aoyue 936 station, and it works pretty well. It heats very fast and the tips are very reliable. I find the iron to be very ergonomic and light, especially compared to those big stand-alone irons I used before. I got it for only 22€ + some € for a bigger tip, I don't think that anything...

    Computers are noisy

I'm using a cheap Terratec Xfire 1024 sound card, and it doesn't produce any noise when it's set to line out. Maybe you should get a better sound card. Especially when you're using onboard sound at the moment.

    Post pics of your builds....

My SOHA... Pretty much standard. Used Xicon resistors, Xicon caps for the power section and some Muse KZ and Panasonic FMs here and there. Opamp is an AD8512, tube... uh, I don't know, I used the one Jeff sent me Now looking forward to building some JISBOS... and of course to case...

    large DC in SOHA outputs

Okay, I redid the soldering on the CCS section (once again ), now it's working just fine... I am impressed. No audible noise, at least until I turn on my halogen lamp :/ Now I'm looking forward to building JISBOS Thanks for all your help! Here's a (bad) picture of my SOHA: Sorry...

    large DC in SOHA outputs

Okay, I redid the opamp soldering, and that sorted out the offset issue and the opamp is getting +12V, too now But now, something else must have broken... I can't get decent tube voltages anymore. the +40 and +60V are down to <1V. I don't know why, it was definately working last night... I...

    large DC in SOHA outputs

Hi, I'm using the regular LND150 MOSFET CCS, like in the mb3k walkthrough. I tried it with an OPA2134 and an OPA2132, same result :/ I did some measurements on the DIP8-socket: the opamp gets -12V at the V- pin, but there is no voltage on any on the other pins that I have measured...

    large DC in SOHA outputs

Hi guys I just received my SOHA kit from Jeff and finished it some minutes ago. Basically it's working and all the voltages are set up right (just the +60V is up to +70V, but that shouldn't be a problem, right?). The problem is that the SOHA puts some -12VDC into the headphones out...

    HD 600 vs HD 650

I got the HD600s for some weeks now and I am really curious about the HD650s in comparison. If you say that the only advantage the HD650s have over the 600s is a more pronounced bass, this might not be worth the extra $$$ over the 600s... Especially since I already experienced the HD600s to be...
