    ZMF Auteur Thread

I'm considering getting an upgrade cable for my Auteur OG as I've heard that the stock cable might not be the best at bring out the full potential of this headphone. While I don't have any real issue with the stock cable per se since I already think that my Auteur sounds very good as it is I'm...

    ZMF Auteur Thread

I think that's really neat how we can all have our own favorite set of pads to match our personal sound preferences. It seems like there's also quite a few people such as yourself who really like the Eikon pads (in any version) which I think shows the value of having so good ZMF pads nowadays to...

    ZMF Auteur Thread

Yes I should have clarified that the Auteur I have is an OG which I think most would consider to be brighter than the newer Classic version. Unfortunately that means I won't be able to perform that modification which you have mentioned as a means for changing up the sound signature of my Auteur...

    ZMF Auteur Thread

I tried pad rolling the Auteur suedes that I'd been using for the longest time with a pair of Eikon suedes recently and the differences were immediately noticeable and not insignificant to my ears. The Auteur suedes are still very much my preferred pads for their more open and airy sound...

    ZMF Verite Open

Thanks for all the replies. Its reassuring to hear that the sonic differences between a harder and softer wood won't be all that significant compared with pad rolling. I guess I'd sort of neglected that aspect as I haven't been pad rolling my Auteurs much these days (just sticking with the...

    ZMF Verite Open

Thanks guys for all the detailed replies. That's a bit of a tough choice and a compromise I guess as both a harder wood and a softer wood would each have their pros and cons. As I do think that I would value a more "natural" and slightly more forgiving sound over incisiveness, bass slam/impact...

    ZMF Verite Open

That is a good point. I'm not dissatisfied with my Auteur for any particular reason. I'm just interested in trying out another ZMF offering based on all the great reviews the Verite as well as the Atrium have been getting. I'm not in a rush to get a new headphone necessarily, the VO is just...

    ZMF Verite Open

This has probably been asked many times before already but I'm trying to decide between maybe getting a VO in a softer wood or a harder wood and am curious to know if there might be a general consensus on whether there is a preference for a harder or softer wood with this particular ZMF. I...

Dubstep Girl's Massive 5AR4/5R4/5U4G Rectifier Review/Comparison! (Rectifer Tube Rolling thread)

That's interesting to hear about the differences in sound quality between the various metal base GZ34's. Sorry I'm not really familiar with reading tube codes but were the RSB tubes possibly manufactured in a different country or factory from the metal base GZ34's with the TV code? I had heard...

[UPDATED]:Headphone DAC and AMP recommendations under 4500$

I've been using my Schiit Yggdrasil A1 (connected to a Singxer SU-1 DDC either via coaxial or AES/EBU) with an iFi Pro iCan for a good many years now. The Yggdrasil which I think leans toward a neutral bright sound signature (nice R2R bass impact and good treble detail) theoretically should pair...

Dubstep Girl's Massive 5AR4/5R4/5U4G Rectifier Review/Comparison! (Rectifer Tube Rolling thread)

Thank you for sharing your experience with using the Cossor 52KU. It just seems like its quite a rare (and expensive) tube that not many people have used in their audio gear compared to some of the other more desirable and easily obtainable ones. Its definitely helpful to know that you would...

Dubstep Girl's Massive 5AR4/5R4/5U4G Rectifier Review/Comparison! (Rectifer Tube Rolling thread)

Hello, has anyone here by any chance had the opportunity to try out the Cossor KU-52 (or 52KU) in their tube amp or perhaps another component in their audio chain? It seems like this one might be similar to the Cossor GZ37/53KU (even though the 52KU is technically supposed to be a GZ32 tube) but...

Rank the best sounding daps that you heard

I have heard many good things about the MrWalkman firmware but unfortunately I have not gotten around to trying my WM1A using the custom firmware for comparison purposes. I guess I've been pretty satisfied with the WM1A stock but I do plan on trying MrWalkman out at some point probably.

Rank the best sounding daps that you heard

Based on my rather limited experience given the vast number of DAPs I have yet to try 1. Sony WM1A (stock firmware) 2. Hifiman HM901S (with Minibox Gold amp card) 3. iBasso DX220 (with Amp 1, 7, 8 and 9) 4. Questyle QP1R 5. Fiio M7

ifI iCan Pro - Impressions & Discussion

Thank you for sharing your experience with regards to the different power supplies alekc. That's certainly interesting how an upgraded power supply would be able to bring the iCan Pro much closer to the Signature version. I might consider upgrading the iPowerPlus to an iPower Elite in future...

ifI iCan Pro - Impressions & Discussion

I've had my iCan Pro for nearly five years now and its still my favorite SS amp in my collection for its clean and relatively neutral sound signature, flexibility with different headphones and gobs of power. Just out of curiosity has anyone ever tried swapping out the stock ifi iPowerPlus for a...

    RME ADI-2 DAC Thread

Sorry if this might have already been asked and answered before at some point but has anyone here compared the RME ADI-2 just as a DAC to the Schitt Gungnir DS? I am aware that most people who purchase a Gungnir DS eventually upgrade it to the Mulitbit architecture rather than keeping it as a DS...

My experience with different music players.

Thanks for suggesting all these different music players. I've just recently tried using PlayPCMWin and am very impressed with the improvement in clarity I'm hearing compared to Foobar (with WASAPI) which I had been using for the longest time.
