Philips Fidelio L2
The originals having a fraction of the distortion of what they do now, was my main concern. They do sound good enough to my ears, though quickly finding a little fatiguing, where I never did with first two philips (x2 & 9500). Whether so much I can't live with IDK yet, but I'm inclined to at...- Justin Hood

Philips Fidelio L2
Looks like I should have finished this thread before jumping on these when they hit $54 on amazon this morning. I remember really wanting to get them along with, back when I bought SHP9500s and X2HR, but the L2's were much more expensive then. Seems like they might not be the same thing these...- Justin Hood

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Ended up sending them back. Am not appreciating enough of a sound difference (certainly because of my limited equipment/source material/ears), to justify everything I like better about SHP9500's- lighter weight, normal sliders vs. elastic band, pad material, clamping force, I think I'm the...- Justin Hood

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Ah okay id never caught that before, thanks for the clarification. I'm not really concerned about weight or clamping force. I've had tighter, and know it will only decrease with time. I'll hang on to them for a few days, see if the pads texture break in and/or my reaction to them changes, and...- Justin Hood

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Speaking of, shouldn't the X2HR have "High Resolution" instead of "High Definition" printed on the side? Thought I saw a pic demonstrating as much in this thread. Ordered X2HR, the box they came in has the yellow high res badge in the corner, but the actual headphones do not- "High Definition"...- Justin Hood

(Value choice) Ear bud equivalent of philips shp9500
Looking for a pair of wired, in-ear buds, mic not necessary. Just looking to maximize sq between $50 to $100 unless there’s an infamous value choice a bit above or below that as I found the above philips to be for big headphones. Anything analogous?- Justin Hood

Philips SHP9500 Discussion Thread
After wearing them more and more often over the past couple of weeks, I find them much more comfortable now. No longer considering a pad swap. Maybe the sharpness of the nylon or w/e it is softened up. Doesn't feel scratchy any more. I still wouldn't mind if at it's smallest setting the pads...- Justin Hood

Sennheiser HD 5xx upgrade worth it?
What do you guys think about the hd 579 compared to 598/599? Right now they are significantly cheaper, but still a significant upgrade over shp9500 for instance? I think they do sound great, but do drop off more than I thought they would at the lower end given the frequency range specs, and...- Justin Hood

Comfort of shp9500s vs HD 579
Generally how is velour compared to the mesh that's on the shp9500? Surely not as, well scratchy might be overstated. But I never realized how much I liked the fake leather or w/e on my mdr-v6's. Slowly getting more & more used to them, trying to insert foam (wish I could find the post around...- Justin Hood

Philips SHP9500 Discussion Thread
When I first read this thread, someone cross purposed some closed cell foam tubes, that they put under the existing pads. THey had an array of all different diameters. Was that someone here, anyone remember what those were?- Justin Hood

Comfort of shp9500s vs HD 579
They do sound really good, but turns out I'm going to have to spend as much to mod the philips as returning them and getting a potentially nicer pair out of the box instead in the 579's, if that is in fact the case... anyone have experience with both comment in comfort? Btw the philips pads are...- Justin Hood

Philips SHP9500 Discussion Thread
"If the headband is the problem, swapping pads could help by moving more of the wheight to be supported by the pads." Yeah I think part of what's bothering me is more how the weight sits- I am at the minimum "0" band setting, and they still feel like they are too far down my ears. Also pads...- Justin Hood

Philips SHP9500 Discussion Thread
Are these already about as light as any around- the-ear open headphones get? Coming from my only other headphones (sony mdr-v6), they're weighing on me a little more than I thought they would. Will do the replacement pads & 3d printed housing if I don't put that & returning them for the $100...- Justin Hood

Would Beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium still be a significant upgrade to Philips SHP9500s, without an amp?
SHP9500s are 32ohm. I understand these are better for iphone and notebook computers, which are all that I listen from. My question is, will the above 250ohm headphones, despite being better I'm sure when driven properly, will it still sound better than the philips from the same sources, without...- Justin Hood
