I have no axe to grind here but I feel it necessary to reply generally about Metrum (the current company) and Metrum DACs and the difference between the two - there has to be a distinction here because whilst Metrum (the current company) is now a sad remnant of what it used to be when it was run...

Yep, just to say that Cees solved this problem (in spite of not working at Metrum any more and also in spite of the very poor clues I gave him) and big thanks to him for identifying a USB issue on my Mac (rather than anything Onyx related) - really appreciate it, Cees - thank you. :raised_hands...
