Which headphones sound similar to AKG K712 Pro??

ATH-R70x is very different to the K712, it's super reference compared to it and barely has any soundstage at all so I wouldn't really call it an enjoyment headphone, nice sidegrades to the K712 are the HD 6XX/Sundara/DT 1990.

Which headphones sound similar to AKG K712 Pro??

K712 only has sidegrades that can complement it, a small step up would be something like a Hifiman Ananda and true upgrades would be stuff like the Sennheiser HD 800 S or Hifiman Arya.

    SHP9500 vs. K701/K702 vs. AD900/ADG1X vs. AD700X

Definitely need an amp for any of the K7 series of headphones. I recommend the Topping E30 DAC and Schiit Magni 3+ or Heresy Amp. To make the experience even more immersive and accurate, you can try spatial sound in Windows, Dolby Atmos for Headphones or DTS Sound Unbound. I personally use DTS...

    Question about Harman Target Curve

Taken straight from oratory1990's FAQ on his Harman EQ settings that he's done for lots of headphones:- Does this mean all headphones will sound the same after applying these EQ settings? Yes. Yes and no. Actually mostly no. Most headphones will sound much more similar than before, but I am...

    Specific Headphone Recommendation

K712 is more neutral than K701/K702 because of the increased bass, K712 has a slightly smaller soundstage but still massive so not a deal breaker. K712 is the best and most refined of the K7-- series from AKG in my opinion and you definitely need an amplifier for them.

More comfortable/lighter open-back alternatives for the Philips Fidelio X2HR

    I used to own the X2 and the K712 were a direct upgrade to them and I borrowed a DT 990 off a friend and used that for a couple of days as well. To my ears it goes like this:- Bass Quantity: X2 > DT 990 > K712 Bass Quality: DT 990 = K712 > X2 Mids: K712 > DT 990 > X2 Treble: DT 990 > K712 > X2...

More comfortable/lighter open-back alternatives for the Philips Fidelio X2HR

Vocals sound muffled on the DT 990 because it is V shaped meaning it has recessed mids compared to the bass and treble, this can somewhat be remedied with EQ. As for the headband on the K712, mine used to dig into the top of my head and hurt but the thing is you have to let it break in, I do not...

    Audiophile cans for gaming ?

AKG K712 Pro is the best all rounder and one of the best gaming headphones aside from the HD800/HD800S.

Please give me an advice which DAC/AMP + headphones do you recommend for gaming, music and movies(PC ONLY)

AKG K712 Pro + Schiit Hel, K712 is one of the best all rounders in its price range and the Schiit Hel is a great DAC+Amp combo unit for PC only and it also has a Mic input.

    SHP9500 vs. K701/K702 vs. AD900/ADG1X vs. AD700X

That is also a good way of deciding. If neither of them tickles your fancy then you can jump straight to the gaming endgame for most people which is the HD 800 provided you are willing to pay that much, if not then the K712 Pro is the 2nd best option.

Volume much lower on right headphone than left on low gain, no issue on high gain

My best guess would be that on low gain you obviously don't need to turn the volume up as much on the knob so at lower volumes you get channel imbalance which is a characteristic on non-digital volume knobs so it's perfectly normal and nothing to be worried about, just turn the volume up on low...

    SHP9500 vs. K701/K702 vs. AD900/ADG1X vs. AD700X

I think the AD700X/AD900X have the least bass out of all of them but I would recommend the K702 because it still has the imaging but also that wow immersion factor with the soundstage which also makes them quite fun. If it's within your price range then I recommend what I use for competitive and...

    SHP9500 vs. K701/K702 vs. AD900/ADG1X vs. AD700X

K701 and K702 have a very wide soundstage with some excellent imaging, AD900X/ADG1X are narrower but still excellent imaging and SHP9500 is narrower again but still great imaging. All of these have something in common which is that they don't emphasise bass that much so they are pretty much...

    K702 pads question

K712 pads are super comfy but I cannot comment on how they behave with glasses as I don't wear glasses. K712 pads might also improve the bass response of the K702 and narrow the soundstage a tiny bit but the overall sound should not change at all, get them from a place that has a good returns...

    PC Gaming Headphone Recommendation

K702 has a bigger soundstage than the K712 but less accurate imaging, I play competitively with the K712 and I have no issues pinpointing where enemies are to the point where I get accused of hacking because I know EXACTLY where they are but for this to work properly the game's audio engine has...

    PC Gaming Headphone Recommendation

AKG K712 is the best value headphone for any type of gaming but it requires proper amplification.

What the heck is the difference between Hifiman's "current" 400i and the 2020 version of the 400i?

Oh they are definitely aware of the issues but I think most of the time they are just drunk lol. The new headband on the 2020 HE-400i looks a lot more sturdy than before so it should be fine, fingers crossed.

What the heck is the difference between Hifiman's "current" 400i and the 2020 version of the 400i?

Yeah if I was looking at purchasing it then I would go for the 2020 HE-400i since it's the exact same sound wise as the old HE-400i and HE4XX but it has a better headband than both. Old design HE-400i is still so expensive compared to the 2020 HE-400i and the 2020 HE-400i is only $9 more than...

What the heck is the difference between Hifiman's "current" 400i and the 2020 version of the 400i?

The HE4XX is the old design HE-400i drivers in the HE-400 body. The 2020 HE-400i is the same sound wise as the old design but with an updated headband so 2020 HE-400i and HE4XX are the same sound wise and very similar design wise, that being said the 2020 HE-400i looks to have a better more...

    AKG K712PRO No Bass

My made in Slovakia K712 has the foam ring piece in between the earpads and the drivers. The K712 is imo the best headphone AKG makes alongside the K371 and the K812 which is polarising.

    AKG K712PRO No Bass

990 will offer a very different sound signature again to the K712 and HD 598 but if you can handle the excessive treble then you might like it, they are very fun headphones.
  22. YJX94

What is the best mid-range/vocals of the AKG K700 series??

They are all more or less the same and you will hardly find any differences in them. The K712 is the most refined of the K7-- series by AKG. If you're purely after vocals above everything else then the HD 600/HD 650/6XX are hard to beat at their price but if you're looking for something that can...

    AKG K712PRO No Bass

990s surely don't lack bass but they surely are treble murder cannons if you can handle it and if you CAN handle it they are excellent. ProtegeManiac also made good points as well, if the output impedance of your onboard audio is too high then that can alter the frequency response of the...

    AKG K712PRO No Bass

K712 is a picky headphone and it matters a lot what source you use it with, if you don't power them properly they do sound a bit dull and lifeless but when powered properly they punch well above their weight. They also shouldn't be your first choice if you love lots of bass and thump from a...

Hifiman Sundara or Akg K712 Pro

Well I don't know what's going on then, it's a well known fact that the K7 series of headphones by AKG are not bass heavy and they have very large soundstages, it's not even debatable. Every review of them enforces these points specifically.
