My 32GB Flash IPod Mini
32GB Rockboxed iPod mini = heaven. That's all I'm sayin'. <--- tore the ribbon cable on the clickwheel putting it back together. Had to wait a little bit before finally putting it together...- michael.conner

first pair of PX100's
After having yet another pair of KSC-75's go out in one ear (this would be the third pair replaced under Koss' no-questions-asked warranty), I decided to try some Sennheiser phones. WOW. They are really sensitive -- had to turn the iPod down a little bit from the volume I was using with my...- michael.conner

CompactFlash Zune?
Thanks -- have posted a thread over there. I may just bite the bullet and get a refurbished or second-hand Zune 30 off of eBay and try it out. Worst thing that can happen is it doesn't work w/the CF card.- michael.conner

CompactFlash Zune?
Has anyone successfully modded a Zune with a ZIF-to-CF adapter and replaced the hard drive with a Compact Flash card? I like my 32gb CF-modded iPod Video quite a bit, but have heard such good things about the Zune SQ, might be fun to compare...- michael.conner

HELP!!! Accidentally deleted music from computer. Now What??
I know the OP has it fixed, but the easiest way to do it is this -- 1. Connect iPod to PC 2. Open iPod in "My Computer" 3. Drag the Music folder from iPod_Control to Foobar2000 4. Let it load (will take a while) 5. Under "File Operations," select "Copy To" and choose whatever file...- michael.conner

Gapless flash players?
You could also go all DIY on it like I did, get a CF-to-ZIF adapter from Tarkan and a 32GB compact flash card, then stick both in a 5G or 5.5G iPod. 30GB of usable space and gapless playback, Apple Lossless support (easily convertable from FLAC), etc. You could also get a used iPod Mini, a...- michael.conner

Creative Zen or Ipod Touch 32GB?
I've owned a Zen and an iPod Touch. Didn't keep either of them for various reasons. The Touch does have gapless, which the Zen doesn't have. The Zen has dedicated play/pause/next/previous buttons (as in, actual buttons), which the Touch doesn't have (you can't really operate a touchscreen in...- michael.conner

mp3 player 10 yr anniversary - your first??
First MP3 player for me was a Creative Nomad Jukebox -- the original 5GB (or was it 6GB?) model. Had been a MiniDisc freak before that.- michael.conner

32GB Flash iPod Video!
Thanks for that info! I do appreciate it. I've had a minor annoyance with my iFlash -- was putting in a replacement battery and managed to snag and cut the ribbon cable from the hold switch. Headphones are unaffected, but looks like I'll be opening it up AGAIN.- michael.conner

32GB Flash iPod Video!
Glad to hear it's not just me. Mine did this for the first time yesterday (the "Connect to iTunes to Restore" message after being off for a while) -- but a hard reboot fixed it. If that's the only bug there is, I'm not going to complain too much.- michael.conner

32GB Flash iPod Video!
No problems so far, although Rockbox didn't want to play nice with it (yet.) In terms of the Apple software, once you reconnect the battery, you get the "Use iTunes to restore your iPod" message. iTunes tells you that it's detected an iPod in "recovery mode," downloads the most up-to-date...- michael.conner

32GB Flash iPod Video!
After briefly having a 32GB Creative Zen (couldn't deal without gapless), I decided to go the DIY route and got a 5.5g iPod off of eBay, a ZIF to CF adapter from Tarkan, and a 32GB AData CF card from newegg. Awesome. Copying to the CF card is a little slow compared to the old hard drive, but...- michael.conner

upgrading ipod hd question
Well, I decided to just try it and see what would happen. I copied the iPod_Control folder to my laptop from the iPod with the old hard drive in it, put the new 40GB drive in the iPod, let iTunes restore the iPod, closed iTunes, then copied the old hard drive's iPod_Control folder to it...- michael.conner

upgrading ipod hd question
I'm getting a new 40GB drive delivered today for my 30gb 5.5G iPod. Is it possible to copy the old hard drive's iPod_Control folder to the new 40GB drive (after setting up the drive w/iTunes, of course), without having to import everything into iTunes and copy it that way?- michael.conner

I don't know how stringent eBay is with it (i.e., auctions getting canceled), but it is a violation of their listing terms and conditions to sell one with music on it.- michael.conner

Toshiba 40GB $99 alert
The Gigabeat Room software will format the player, but in terms of firmware, it will restore the backup of the gigabeat sytem folder that it made the first time you ran Gigabeat Room. In other words, if you didn't back up the Gigabeat system folder before installing Rockbox, you can't get it...- michael.conner
