Douk Audio U2 Pro DDC - Poorman DDC for an affordable & clean digital signal
I read somewhere that these clockers can become more accurate as they run in. Is there any evidence for this?- Hummer25

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
Thanks for your reply. I feel without actual being able to try any of the Holo DACs in my system from what I am reading this is where I would put my money. The midrange performance is critical to me as I like flesh on the bone where so many DACs can be on the thinner side tonaly. As you say...- Hummer25

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
How does the Holo compare to the Soekris DAC Delta9K. I have heard the Soekris in my own system and it was not bad. The Holo Spring 3 by all accounts looks like a step up?- Hummer25

Philips Fidelio X2?!
I have had the X2s for a week or so now and I am very impressed with the sound of these headphones. I normally listen to a high end system through speakers and I am not naturally a headphone user but these Philips X2 give a good representation of how I hear with speakers. The aural signature is...- Hummer25

Philips Fidelio X3
First pre production review I have read suggests the X3 has wide sound stage and warm midrange, slightly warmer than neutral. Bass was deep but controlled. These headphones have a wide frequency range and come with a balanced and unbalanced cable with better channel separation and less...- Hummer25

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread
So I have had the Meze 99 Noir headphones for a few days now and decided to change the large pads to the smaller ones which were included. What a difference!! These pads move the 99 Noir form a good/OK headphone to something pretty special. I have listened to a very wide range of music and...- Hummer25

Just received mine and I don't know what the issues are with the bass, in fact I would say they need more not less. Very comfortable and nice easy fun sound.- Hummer25

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread
Why are there so many negative comments about the bass, is it swamping the mid and treble and muddying the sound or is just a bit rich?- Hummer25

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread
I have just bought the Meze 99 Classics and it has the cable with mic and remote only. Is it better to use a cable without mic/remote. If this is the case could someone recommend a cable that would be a good replacement?- Hummer25

Guide to using Raspberry Pis for Audiophile Projects
I think if someone of the top manufacturers heard what an RPi3 with Allo Boss 1.2 DAC using an LPS can sound like they may be concerned. For a fraction of the price of much of the competition this renderer DAC combination can produce some stunning results. I have done the comparison and have...- Hummer25

Raspberry Pi + Macbook Pro with Audirvana
So I have set up RPi3 + Allo Boss 1.2 loaded with Volumio on SD card to run the Pi. Audirvana found Volumio straight away as UPnP endpoint. All works perfectly with no glitches and with an LPS powering the RPi3 and Allo Boss DAC I am getting a stunning sound all for £200! I compared this with...- Hummer25

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread
Good to hear Joe, this is exactly my experience of the m-scaler although I have only heard one with DAVE. I presume the benefits are the same with Qutest? A Qutest +m-scarler at £4000 is half the price of DAVE but not half the audio experience. I would guess it gets you to about 70-80% of DAVE.- Hummer25

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread
Thanks for your reply Christer. From what you have said the Qutest with m-scaler maybe a bargain when you consider the price of DAVE and M-scaler. I was mightily impressed with Qutest in my system and really ought to try it with an m- scaler. The next generation of Chord DACs could be very...- Hummer25

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread
I think you may have answered your question yourself Chester in that the only real way to tell the difference will be to try one yourself. Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread
Thanks for confirming your thoughts on the Qutest / M-scaler. The benefits of using the m-scaler are much the same as the experience I had when listening to it with DAVE.
