    Grado modders go Magnum

....yeah, it took me awhile to find them too, and I was leery, but the ones I got were perfectly the same as anything that came on a Grado (or etc). Rholupat sells them too, but he wants $11 each for the same thing, and he's half way around the world from me.

    Grado modders go Magnum

I bought 12 some time ago and can't remember the exact place I bought them, but if you google 1/4 metal headbands, you'll find a bunch of hits from hair supply places - those are exactly what is used on the Grados and etc - just cut them to the right length. Here's one example - 99 cents each...

    Grado modders go Magnum

Another option for headbands and gimbals is Roluphat. Decent quality in my experience. I did upgrade the rubber inserts to a heavier durometer to keep the cups in place firmly. In any case, with those, you can cut the head band shorter and re-punch or drill new holes to fit over the...

    Grado modders go Magnum

I punched a rubber disc to fit the cup diameter, ~1/8" thick, and punched out the ports in the center of the disc. I tried several combinations and found a 7/16" to 1/2" port to yield the best results: it tightened up the bottom end without losing any SPL in the bottom octave. For example, a...

    Grado modders go Magnum

My understanding is that the V8 is similar to the V7, and having only used the V7 in a few builds so far and not yet the V8s, I should limit my comments to the V7 only, but, for what it's worth, I have had very good results taming the somewhat loose bottom end of the V7s by employing a bit of...

    Grado modders go Magnum

Here it is....not a particularly good image. The material is rubber ~1/8" thick. Usually, since it is black, you can't really see it - had to try hard to get the lighting to the point where I could make it stand out. In any case, it does improve the clarity down low.

    Grado modders go Magnum

I'm curious if there is a comparison between the V7 and the V8 in here somewhere that I may have missed....? I have recently completed two builds with the V7 in sets of sapele and walnut cups. I was very impressed with the V7 overall. Definitely deep bass with that driver, but somewhat loose...

Good tubes to pair with my HD650 and Little Dot mk2?

GE JAN 5654W are also a good option. Controlled bass with authority. Other tubes I've tried have either seemed slightly muddy by comparison or somewhat anemic. Mids are very smooth, and highs are extended and well balanced.

how good are the Jan5654W tubes?

I know this is an old post but I stumbled on this recently and thought others might be considering these tubes. I'm using these in the Little Dot MK2, and they're good. Where other tubes I tried either had an anemic bass response, or exhibited slightly muddy or indistinct bass, these are...

    Symphones V7 frequency response measurements?

OK.  After a couple days of searching, I was ultimately able to find what I was looking for at:   http://www.head-fi.org/t/119314/post-your-grado-mods/7425#post_12887844    The impedance and phase measurements, etc, etc are in that post as well, so well worth looking at, and not just the V7...

    Symphones V7 frequency response measurements?

Has anyone measured the frequency response of the Symphones V7 drivers?  If so, I'd like to see the chart or be steered towards that information if it is available.  Thanks.
