Holo Audio Red Streamer
Current price for the Mercury V2 and the Red are the same. As for using these as DDC or streamer, it seems like the Mercury V2 won't have an issue with switching from DDC to/from streaming as the Red does, but the Red seems to be able to handle higher hi-res files. Am I correct on this?- edwyun

The Stax Thread III
I would not say lacking in bass because if the recording has it, the Stax will reproduce it faithfully. However, you often don't feel the effect of the bass as you potentially can in other setups. And I'm not talking about too much bass either. I've always thought that it was partly due...- edwyun

I don't disagree with your assessment about "impact". Hard to get impact with an openback phones IMHO.- edwyun

My Aleph 2 amps are spec'ed to run at 50-55 C. No issues for many years (knock on wood). Great for winters not so much for summers.- edwyun

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
I would agree on 8/10 for the imagery and digital/special effects. But it seemed like it was focused on that too much. Scarlett did look the part. The movie did have some references back to the original but I wouldn't compare one to the other as they are different in storyline.- edwyun

Is it possible to do Stereo 7.1 on Sennheiser HD 598?
Not to get too far afield from the original post, but I was always under the impression that the sound with headpones will always be between your ears (e.g., inside your head) unless you're talking about a binaural audio recording. So 7.1 and 5.1 downmixed to 2 channel will still appear to...- edwyun

Question, is this any different than matrixing the 7.1 or 7.1 signal to 2 channel for speaker mains?- edwyun

Vinyl sounds better than digitial if you ...
I think there's room for all formats, and not just vinyl or CD. In fact, some vinyl or CD recorded on R2R at 15ips sounds even better, at least to me. I agree the differences in formats are subtle but they are there. But it also is affected by the recording, artist, venue, etc. In those...- edwyun

Upgrading from Stax SRD-7
Any recommendations for replacing my 90s era SRD7 for my Stax Lambda Pro's? Just started listening to my headphones again after a long hiatus (mainly listened to speakers for the last 10-15 years). Now I need to listen more quietly. Listen to all types of genre (classical, opera, jazz, rock...- edwyun
