    AD8620 voltage observations...

Well, in general, all opamps pretty much sound different at different voltage levels. So it's not psychological at all. Usually the higher the voltages, the better the sound. Maybe what you're hearing is the bad source.

2 questions regarding slew rate and settling time.

JCX.. i'm actually using my sds amp as a preamp for a speaker power amp. So am i right in assuming that a higher voltage is better in terms of distortion? (This is from your second paragraph) And I think you should rephrase your third paragraph because I am completely lost understanding it. Can...

2 questions regarding slew rate and settling time.

I found this information at the link below: http://www.phys.ualberta.ca/~gingric...s/node115.html "The op-amp performance can be demonstrated by applying a step function to the input and observing the output response, as shown in figure 6.33b. The actual output will have a finite slope...

2 questions regarding slew rate and settling time.

Hi guys, I can definitely hear the difference when i change the supply voltage on opamps in general. At the moment, the opamp i'm using is the LT1122 in a modified SDS headphone amp. How come the sound changes so much? I was reading the AD8610/AD8620 datasheet and noticed that two things...

    Amp for HD650

Yes, I do agree that the OPA134 series has more noise than a 8620, but i'm not sure if this will be audible because the hd650s are 300 ohm headphones..

AT LAST!! My PIMETA w/ NiMH is done!! (56k beware)

I just want to add that changing the ground channel opamp also makes a difference in sound.. what i'd suggest you do is stick another ad843 in the ground channel and this will definitely calm down the highs.

A friend needs advice on ATH-FC5/7 headphones.

Ok people... my friend is on an extreme budget and can only spend about 75 us dollars. He likes the look of the ATH-FC5 white headphones. His other choice are the sennheiser hd-497s. I've recommended the senns over the audio-technicas, but any further advice is welcome. Please post comments as...

    Couple of foobar2000 questions..

Yeah I have an Emu 1212m which has asio support. Weird thing is, i can only get the asio to work in foobar if i set the mode to 24 bit padded to 32 bit.. does anyone know why this is? The error i get is the following if i set foobar's mode to 16 bit or 24 bit: "unsupported output data format".

    Couple of foobar2000 questions..

Hi thanks for the quick reply, Is there a reason why ASIO is better than kernel streaming? Just curious, 300_baud

    Couple of foobar2000 questions..

Hi there, Got a few quick questions regarding foobar.. my first question is about the kernel streaming.. does it only work in 24 bit or 24 bit padded to 32 bit? or can it also work in 16 bit mode as well. Second question is about ASIO output. Is ASIO output just as good as kernel streaming in...

finding the 'true' line-out level with the 1212m?

The low pass filter cuts off the higher frequencies that contain distortion that the dac creates when recreating the analog signal from digital. This distortion can be harmful to headphones and speakers. (Especially to speakers that have tweeters.. the distortion may wreck them)

iRiver IMP-550 - optical performance, mp3 vs. redbook playback

Hi, i have a 550 unit myself and it sucks actually.. the reasons are: 1) It skips a lot... especially when the battery life is at half left. 2) The skipping, which includes 'tick noises', means high jitter. 3) Turning off the xtreme EQ/3D settings doesn't really help... 4) It does work...

Has anyone made the SDS Labs Amp

Hey Morsel, that sounds like a great project, can't wait! edit: Just thinking about your proposed project and the mosfet ground channel. Wouldn't the PSRR of the ground channel as a whole be worse with mosfets? If so, then wouldn't it better to stick with buffers instead? Also, what...
