Astell&Kern A&futura SE180 - The First Modular DAP from Astell&Kern
I have SEM 3 installed and use Campfire Cascades (cloth pads or large leather pads w/o filter). This sounds amazing to my ears. Mostly electronic music (ambient, dub, etc), but also jazz, classical and classic rock. I have a 4.4mm connector on my Hart cable.- Persco

Grado Fan Club!
Interestingly, I wrote to Grado and asked about plans for the Professional Series, including a PS500x or PS1000x. This is what I was told: "Hi, We will probably have a successor to the PS2000 next year. The GS3000x which will be released soon is far superior to the PS1000e and the RS1x and...- Persco

Astell&Kern A&futura SE180 - The First Modular DAP from Astell&Kern
Agreed. I haven't heard it yet, no. It won't be available until May. Unless you meant SEM3? That one I've only read about in reviews.- Persco

Astell&Kern A&futura SE180 - The First Modular DAP from Astell&Kern
I love the SE180. I don't find the UI buggy or slow. That was my experience with Fiio. Could sound amazing, but files didn't display correctly ever, the UI would hang and crash. Drove me crazy. The SE180 has been 100% reliable and sounds incredible. And the swappable system of dac/amp modules is...- Persco

Modular cable systems (Hart Audio and others ?)
I have a Hart cable and use it with my AK SE180. The adapters make no real difference to the portability. I'm using them with a set of CA Cascades, though. Not IEMs. But I use them walking to work and back home (30 mins each way) and have no problems at all. The modular cables are really...- Persco

Cascade Headphone by Campfire Audio
Hmmm. That's interesting. I'm glad I found a pair. Did they say why they won't be making them anymore? I was surprised at the difference they make to the sound.- Persco

Astell&Kern A&futura SE180 - The First Modular DAP from Astell&Kern
I purchased the SE180 at the of January. The first unit I received was non-functioning. Wouldn't even charge. I was pretty shocked given the price tag. However, the shop I bought it from exchanged it without issue after confirming it was DOA. The second unit has been spectacular. I love this...- Persco

Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
I really wish someone could do this for Mac instructions. The ones on Fidelizer don't work (tried it six ways from Sunday and it never works) and jkbuha's Mac install is very difficult too.- Persco

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV
They will ship. I ordered Lyra IIs to Toronto through Headphone Bar. But holy crap are they terrible at communication. I couldn't get them to respond to simple queries if my life had depended on it. I had even asked them about adding a $150 cable to the order and they couldn't bother to reply...- Persco

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV
Great review. I really love the Jupiters. LOVE them. I have some Custom Art fitted tips on them and they're now close to perfect for me. Aside from the sound, my favourite thing about them is the bronze anodized aluminum industrial build. This is what a pair of IEMs made by Ray Laconico would...- Persco

I have both the Lyra II's and the Jupiters. They are both great with the X5III. I prefer the Jupiters for clarity and detail, etc. The Lyras have a little more bass (but the Jupiter is no slouch). I love them. Build quality is outstanding. I just got a balanced OC Cable from Taiwan, the Zeus...- Persco

A little about the Campfire Audio Jupiter
I have a pair and they're perfect. I couldn't find a flaw anywhere. There are two versions, one is cerakoted and the other is just anodized. So the colour difference will be a little darker and rougher texture on the cerakote model. Otherwise, they are identical. The b-stock is definitely...- Persco

Lol. I guess it was a waste. The one thing I notice with the PB3 is a quieter background and lots of extra power, but probably not necessary.- Persco

That's why I bought the iBasso PB3 amp instead of the Fiio A5. I have a balanced cable arriving today, so will be trying the balanced output through the PB3.- Persco

That is exactly correct. It's a tritium dial speedy pro 3590.50. I think it was the light that day. The strap is a Drew Canvas (@aboen on Instagram). Long, long waiting list.- Persco

$1000 IEMs?
I think you'll find the X5III is a premium-built unit. It's very solid. Nothing wobbles on it, nothing feels plasticky or cheap. I couldn't care less about packaging, I don't listen to the package, and the accessories included with the X5III are just fine. And believe me, I'm fussy about these...- Persco

$1000 IEMs?
I have the Fiio X5III and the sound is amazing. Fiio is still in the process of ironing out the firmware, but I have had only one major glitch so far in several weeks. It was resolved and it's playing nicely. The sound is incredible. On the IEMs, I would look at the Campfire Audio Jupiters...- Persco
