Marantz HD DAC1 vs Soundblaster Z

I just picked up a Marantz HD DAC1 and listen to it with a DT1770 Pro. The sound is quite nice, the only problem is, neither my girlfriend nor I  can make out a difference to my Soundblaster Z.   The headphone is burned in and sounds very nice. Very clear and powerfull. Changing back and forth...

    Amps for Planar Headphones

It is said, that an amp for a planar like the LCD-2 needs not only sufficient power, but also a high current. What part of an amps specs reveals this info? Would for example an Atoll HD 120, Fostex HP-A8C or Marantz CAD1 manage powering a LCD-2?

DAC / Amp combo for a budget of 700€

I am looking for a decent DAC and Headphone Amp to be used with a DT1770 Pro. Took me couple weeks to decide for a Headphone, but it seems deciding for those 2 is even more complicated. I could up the budget a bit if there is a lot of quality to be gained. I prefer separate devices, but a 2 in 1...

Ifi Micro Ican SE or Micro iDSD?

I was considering to get an Ifi Micro Ican SE for a DT1770 Pro. But i see the Ifi Micro iDSD has a build in DAC, but not the "tube like amp" feature. So I wonder how the iDSD fares compared to a combo of Micro Ican SE and a DAC. Would the sound be very different? Would it be as warm as with that...

Soundcards with an optical line-out that supports the processed signal of virtual headphone surround and EQ.

I hope I phrased that title correctly ;) The only soundcard i am aware of that can do it, is the SoundblasterX G5. What about the SoundblasterZ and the Soundblaster Omni 5.1, does anyone know if you can route the processed signal via optical line-out into a DAC?

Need Advice for a major Headphone Upgrade

Hello everyone. I am going to upgrade my entire sound equipment, starting with a new headphone. I am now using an old but trusty Auzentech XiFi Forte soundcard with integrated Amp (Creative processor, but higher grade hardware than Creative back in the day) and my two, also very long used...
