That looks like an 820/variant, closed back. The survey was about open 800 variants I believe. Hopes of patent applications making it to market is a rabbit hole best left unexplored though so coming back the thread, when will Sennheiser tell us what the survey is for or if/when we’re going to...

While I agree with you in principle, many of us have been in this hobby for more than a couple of decades and the expiry date on our hearing is certainly getting closer by the day … ideally, I’d like Sennheiser to release something while we all still can appreciate it :beerchug:

Ah my bad then - I did not realize you were joking :). On a serious note, given the hype surrounding these headphones, I would definitely recommend buying from a place with a good return policy. If buying used, then get them cheap enough that so as not lose your shirt if there is a need to resell.

I am struggling hard to understand the intent of a message like this if the goal is to make people interested in the headphones. This hobby is subjective, everyone hears different, there has got to be room for folks disagreeing without driving others from the discussions.

You have to make that mistake a couple of times and then you get stuck with an HD700, sell it at considerable loss then you settle down, buy an HD600 or 650\6xx and listen to everything else that’s north of 500$ before you buy it! :dt880smile:
