Focal Utopia General Discussion
Pardon my crappy camera skills and sloppy temporary setup. I just got the Naim Unity Atom HE for my Utopias and to drive my Edifier s3000 Pro powered speakers. With the speakers, it's a clear upgrade and sounds amazing. Too early to tell with the Utopia, I already had a pretty great setup as it...- abirdie4me

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas
I'm done with custom tips, they cause more issues than they resolve (at least for me). I can live with normal tips, just not for long listening sessions. Over-the-ear didn't help anything either, but it's all good. I'm fortunate to have many great options for listening, this gives me an excuse...- abirdie4me

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas
Sadly, custom ADV tips for the Atlas are not for me. I can’t get used to the fit, and they alter the sound of the Atlas depending on how I have them inserted. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I’ve gone back to spiral dots and will have to limit my listening sessions to an hour or so, at which point...- abirdie4me

RME ADI-2 DAC Thread
Got the ADI-2 DAC today and plugged it into my Keces p8 linear power supply and fed it with Roon via UltraRendu. I haven’t even looked at any settings yet, and I already know this is a keeper. Listened with Utopia and Campfire Atlas so far, and it sounds spectacular. Can’t wait to start...- abirdie4me

[FiiO FH7] Flagship 5-Driver (1DD + 4BAs) Hybrid In-Ear Monitors, Knowles DFK + SWFK Composite BA Drivers, 13.6mm Beryllium DD Driver
Fh7 is great with M11 around the house, and acceptable at some restaurants. Any noisier environment than that really diminishes sound quality quickly for me, regardless of head gear I use. Maybe the seal needs to be improved, I’ll take extra tips with me next time I go out to eat and experiment.- abirdie4me

[FiiO FH7] Flagship 5-Driver (1DD + 4BAs) Hybrid In-Ear Monitors, Knowles DFK + SWFK Composite BA Drivers, 13.6mm Beryllium DD Driver
Stuck in head-if purgatory, Dallas Texas USA. 8 million people and 0 places to demo decent gear. Never heard etymotic, but I’ll read up on them (thanks for the suggestion). I’m running out of energy for buying blind, and pretty satisfied with my current combo of Campfire Atlas and FH7...for the...- abirdie4me

[FiiO FH7] Flagship 5-Driver (1DD + 4BAs) Hybrid In-Ear Monitors, Knowles DFK + SWFK Composite BA Drivers, 13.6mm Beryllium DD Driver
They don’t isolate well enough for me on plane, I’ve decided to go back to Sony xm3 for air travel even though I don’t really like their signature. But on planes (and probably trains), ANC is first priority as sound quality gets washed out in noisy environment anyway.- abirdie4me

[FiiO FH7] Flagship 5-Driver (1DD + 4BAs) Hybrid In-Ear Monitors, Knowles DFK + SWFK Composite BA Drivers, 13.6mm Beryllium DD Driver
I have Atlas and FH7, and the bass doesn't compare at all. Atlas is MUCH TOO bassy for my tastes and overpowers the mids, at least on most tracks. The FH7 is a great all-rounder, the Atlas is great for those tracks / genres where you want a lot of bass...and I mean A LOT! I'm using the M11 as my...- abirdie4me

[FiiO M11] Android 7.0, 2.5/3.5/4.4 Powerful Output, Exynos 7872, Dual AK4493 DAC chips, 3GB RAM, WiFi, Two-way LDAC
Bought a 4 foot 4.4 balanced cable for my Focal Elear to use with the M11, and it is a nice pairing. M11 has no problem driving them at 80ohm and the sound seems better to me than it did out of the Chord Mojo...but that was a while ago and my audio memory might be unreliable. Either way, M11 is...- abirdie4me

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas
Not a fan. I have FiiO pure silver 4.4 cable I wanted to use with the Atlas, but the memory wire just doesn’t mesh well with the Atlas. Even with the stock cable, I don’t find over ear orientation comfortable and I can’t get a good seal either. I even removed the memory wire on the 4.4 cable...- abirdie4me

Tidal Masters & MQA Thread!
Picked up the Fiio M11 and loving it so far. Trying to figure out if the Tidal app that I've downloaded via APKPure (M11 has no Google Play support) will play redbook cds at native 44.1 or are upsampling to 48. Is there a way I can check this? I assume the Masters files are playing correctly.- abirdie4me

Don't know about the Sennheisers, but the Focal Elear sounds great and I can only get to about 50 on the volume wheel before it gets too loud. Elear is 80 ohm I believe, so not the same demand as Hd6xx, but I still bet the M11 would do a good job of driving them.- abirdie4me
