Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

I have 2; so brought the one from the office back home during the wait.... Had a Sennheiser HDV 820 loaner (used it at work); it was _so_ bad when comparing to the 430.

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

Received my Moon 430HAD (it has been available for a while, just no time to pick it up). Power supply replaced; all good in the Moon-world again :)

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

Yes, got asked by store to check the fuses first - if that did not work I got asked to turn it in for service and I would get a loaner while I waiting. So not a problem, just the extra stress disconnecting; freight; getting it into the store; going home with a loaner; connecting the loaner...

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

Replacing fuse(s) did not help; it is stone dead - guessing something regarding the power supply board

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

I keep it powered on all the time.

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

The Moon 430HAD I have at home just died - worked perfect since 2014:frowning2: Seems like the fuse said goodnight, anyone else experienced this? No iffy stuff happening with the power at the time either. I switched track from Roon and no sound (perfect timing). So initially I though that this...

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

I found the Z1R on Moon 430HAD way to bass heavy, especially with Yggdrasil as a DAC. Edit: Good bass is key; but it should not sound like you sit inside a subwoofer :D

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

I found the Sony Z1R terrible; not even in the same league as LCD-XC (I also have the LCD-4)

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

The 430HA is not doing much to the audio signature - and it is as always important to match the entire audio chain with equipment that will give you the sound you want. All elements influence the output in some way. From computer (or transporter); cables, DAC, analogue cables; headphone...

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

The best approach is however to avoid USB completely; and this can be done by using a great streamer with Roon. You can control your music from the computer (or anywhere else) and have different or the same output to multiple endpoints. Roon is fantastic; I really hope the industry does not...

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

No; imac=>tidalhifi via Roon=>Moon Neo MiND2=>Moon 430HAD :) The USB input of the DAC in Moon 430HAD is not very good; coaxial SPDIF is so much better. And with Roon going over the ethernet you will avoid all issues with USB from the computer as well; which is not a very optimal way to transfer...

    AUDEZE LCD XC

I've got two headphone-setups; both using Moon 430HAD (not using internal DAC, but the Schiit Yggdrasil on both). Works very well both for Audeze LCD-XC (2016 edition) and LCD-4 (rev2).

    AUDEZE LCD XC

4 days of playing on my upgraded Audeze LCD-XC; I'm really impressed - absolutely everything is better (and it keeps improving). So for those considering upgrading; go for it!

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Why would you turn off all equipment at night? Yggdrasil needs 2-3 days to give good sound again.

    AUDEZE LCD XC

Just got my 2 Audeze LCD-XC returned from upgrade. It's not only updated elements, but they look brand new (shiny, clean and nice). Reduced mids; less boomy and more detailed bass; removed peak at 300Hz and dip around 8000Hz also seems to be good. This sounds really good; I really missed them :)...

    AUDEZE LCD XC

Putting hands over grills on an open headphone is not comparable to the LCD-XC. So I would say this is a false statement.

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

I still have a strong suspicion that a high-end USB-SPDIF bridge will give better result. Or a source delivering directly to SPDIF into the Yggdrasil. My Gen 5 USB cards for Yggdrasil have arrived, but not been able to pick them up yet. I really hope Gen 5 USB will be on the same level. Nothing...

Just don't use the same type of cable as the analogue interconnects. AES/EBU should be 110 ohm

    AUDEZE LCD XC

After an hour more of listening, the Z1R are horrible..... I would never buy these; epic failure from Sony in my opinion.

    AUDEZE LCD XC

No clue; asked for price for upgrade and the Nordic importer said they would fix it for free. Maybe I've spent to much money?

    AUDEZE LCD XC

Just handed in my two LCD-XCs for upgrade; borrowed a set of Sony MDR-Z1R while I wait for the upgrade (from my local dealer). On my setup, the LCD-XC (2014 version) is _SO_ much better in all aspects. The Z1R sounds more "synthetic"/flat; harsh tops; and less punch in lower frequencies (the Z1R...

This is not normal; not a sound from mine (I have two).

    AUDEZE LCD XC

I have 2 * Audeze LCD-XC (one at home and one at the office; in addition to the LCD-4 200 ohm edition), both from 2014. I now have the possibility to upgrade to 2016 edition without any cost (for both). Based on your statement, this is something you recommend :) I have been happy with the sound...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

You should try the 200ohm edition of LCD4. With Yggdrasil connected fully balanced to the Moon 430HA, and LCD4 connected via balanced cable - that is pure magic :)
