I'm curious as to how you find them in relationship to the Ether Flows? I've been considering the N8 as my next CIEM, and enjoy the sound signature of my Ether Flow Opens =)

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

I can't comment on the Ether C Flows - I have the open-backed set - and they sound great out of the balanced jack on the WM1A with high gain. To my ears, it doesn't quite sound as good as my desktop setup, but probably gets about 80-85% of the way there.

4.4mm TRRRS female to 3.5mm male adapter?

This is the one I ordered: https://doublehelixcables.com/product/ultrashort-adapter-for-adapting-amp-terminations/ You can choose the 4.4 female on the top box.

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

I do as well, but only use the Jotunheim for the amp section (plus phono out of my turntable); the Jotunheim is a leaner, but clean sounding amp. It pairs pretty well with the Ether Flow, but to my ears, there's one small dip in sound somewhere in the lower mids that on a few songs, pushes a few...

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

I think you'll be happy with it. I have the Draug V3 on my Ether Flow, and it works really well for it.

4.4mm TRRRS female to 3.5mm male adapter?

Awesome. I've had connectors and cables built by plussound before. I didn't initially recommend them because, when I last checked, they didn't have the option of using a 4.4 Female connector. I'm glad to see it becoming an option there too.

4.4mm TRRRS female to 3.5mm male adapter?

I'm having one constructed by Peter at Double Helix Cable - from pictures I saw of his adapters, they look well-made. Still waiting on it though, so I can't comment on it realistically yet.

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

Just received my Draug 3 today. Visually, it's absolutely stunning. I'm a little shocked by how flexible the cable is too. From first impressions, sound is good. Nice and clean with just a touch of warmth added. Really seems to take advantage of the planar-sounding bass on the Ether Flows and...

    SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A

From single ended, I'd say it sounds good, especially if you like a slightly warmer sound. I don't know if it's just to my ear, but there's a pretty noticeable difference between sounds in the mid-bass and into the higher-mids. It was particularly noticeable to me on a duet with a male and...

    SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A

I have both the HD650 and the NW-WM1A, but no balanced cable for the HD650. Is there something in particular you want to know about it?

someone explain balanced cables and adapters?

My understanding is that that adapter might damage your source or headphones. If you had a headphone with a balanced cable, you could convert it to unbalanced, but going the other way is usually to be avoided. I'm not super technical, however, so if someone else could chime in about why it's...

    SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A

I use my ether flow with it when I'm at home away from my primary set up. in low-gain, it's a bit underpowered and lacking, but in high-gain mode out of balanced, it has great dynamics and has enough body to it that it doesn't sound thin to me. You might hear some hiss though.

What's a good Amp for Planar Headphones

I use a planar with the Schiit Jotunheim and I find that it's a pretty good pairing. To my ears, the Jotunheim is slightly treble-leaning and planars tend to be somewhat bass-mid leaning, so, a good balance overall.

    Do I need a new Soundcard ?

Or look at the Schiit Fulla 2 if you want something even simpler. It's a pretty basic dac/amp that should do everything that you might need.

Closed or open back headphones for (not FPS) gaming?

I use both, but prefer open-backed because closed-back start making my ears sweat after a while. Even in games where I really want directionality, I still prefer open-backed headphones.

Latest DAP recommendation? Any new releases beating forum favorites?

I can't comment on too many, as I don't have the money to try all of them out, but I use the Astell and Kern AK70, which I think sounds phenomenal for the price. I looked at the XDP-100r as well, but there were concerns at the time I was looking into loose connections as well as battery life...

    Music player software

I use jriver, although I will admit that the software is not the most user-friendly. That being said, it does offer a good level of combustibility.

Yey another custom vs universal iem...

I personally never found universal IEM's comfortable and, according to the audiologist that did the molds for my CIEMs, the entrance to my canal narrows enough at the beginning that make universals not sit well anyways. With CIEMs, I can usually wear it for about 3-4 hours without any issue in...

    Opinions on Schiit amp

It's true that the SE output is lower on the jotunheim, but using the TH-X00s comfortably for me is to have the dial turned up between a quarter and halfway up, so, I wouldn't be terribly worried about its ability to drive things either.

Are you a console or PC gamer?

Hi all, just saw that there was a section on video games and thought I would jump in too. I'm going to say that about 80% of the time, I'm gaming on the PC and have been for years and years. That being said, I also have had both Nintendo and Sony consoles, and just finished Horizon: Zero Dawn...

What should I get for $300?

Are you planing to use speakers too? Some amps, like the Schiit Magni 2 have a version that is made for headphones exclusively (non-Uber), and another that can act as a preamp to a speaker set-up (Uber). I'm not sure if there's a difference in sound quality from the non-Uber and the Uber though...

    Schiit Bifrost Multibit vs Normal

When I upgraded by Bifrost (Uber --> Multibit), I felt it was a worthwhile upgrade. The biggest change for me was in how the multibit handled the subtleties and gradations in music. To me, it wasn't so much a cleaner sound, but one that showed a little more in the shades of gray. On an even less...

What should I get for $300?

Open-backed headphones do leak sound, but generally speaking, unless you're within the same room as someone else, they won't hear anything unless you have the volume at ridiculous levels. When I game, I'm always using open-backed headphones unless there's a lot of extra noise in the environment...

What music do you use to benchmark the sound on new and old headphones?

Wonderful topic! I'm not terribly scientific about how I pick things, but I tend to have preferences in style, so my auditions tend to emphasize those preferences. Some songs I use because of the detail, and others because of their imperfections though. Here's what I use: For male voices...

Bought Schiit Asgard (Version 1) - Having hum/buzz issues

I used to have an Asgard 2, which I don't use anymore, but I do remember the occasional hum/buzz sound. I noticed that this happened most commonly when my desk was cluttered and I had other electronic components near the cables or amp. My guess is that there's some issues with electronic...
