Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)
Hi all, I just bought the Huawei mate 10 (after my v10 boot-looped in 6 months). The huawei is a great phone, display, camera , battery and general performance is top notch. It does have a 3.5mm headphone jack and surprisingly the SQ quality is decent(my reference is meizu mx4 pro , v10 and...- whizard

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)
Hi guys, My v10 has failed. I am looking for a new device. I am thinking of getting a vivo xplay 6 but i am not sure if the new one will be out soon? Don't want the Meizu as it lacks the right LTE bands. LG v30 would be the second option but i would like the vivo if the Xplay 7 or whatever...- whizard

Best Smartphone for audiophile
I bought an mx4 pro last year for £120 GB so 290$ is too much for such an old phone. Sound wise its great but otherwise no so much. The home button malfunctioned, no proper software support and the battery life is terrible. I have an LG v10 now and it is superior to the mx4 pro in every way...- whizard

Hi guys, I upgraded from a meizu mx4 pro to a LG V10. Its still a great phone and a good upgrade for me coming from an MX4 pro. As far as audio is concerned, i would not say its any better but i am no audiophile. -Tested using tidal HIFI ( headphones used fidelio X1, KZ ATE, ROCK zircon)- whizard

if you have access to a heat gun to rework chips. here is a video guide i found, seems pretty straightforward. You will need thermal paste and pads.- whizard

The boot loop cause in case of the LG v10 is the hardware. Basically the heat sink pads for the processor are useless. ~some thermal paste and new pads after you reflow the chip should be good enough to solve the issue. The nexus 6p seems like a different issue, Its interesting to see this...- whizard

Hi i just placed an order for an LG v10 via ebay UK for £210 (brand new) , the seller is from china. V10 will receive nougat and is still a beast of a phone. Jeff, Singapore seems to be the same as Australia the h870DS, should have quad DAC(see propaganda on their site for proof below) http://www.lg.com/sg/mobile-phones/lg-G6- whizard

The ESS DAC should cost Lg a few pennies and since they already paid for implementation there should not be any additional cost. How would removing the chip keep the cost of the phone down? This seems to be like a patent issue as its not sold in US and EU (non EU countries seem to be getting the...- whizard

AKM 4375 is not just a DACbut an integrated audio chip solution. Please look at the data sheet it has a headphone amplifier built in. I was in Frankfurt and found a brand new HTC 10 reduced to 397 EUR in a high street store, unfortunately the screen size is too small for me as i i prefer a larger size (helps me read emails due to my poor vision). seems like a good deal as it is still going for over 500 EUR in most stores.- whizard
