HE-400S Possible damage to diaphragm?
Just noticed your post, crossing my fingers, but so far I havent noticed any change in audio output (distortion or channel imbalance) I mean I guess I have no way of really knowing if they are sounding "correct" as I dont have another pair to compare to, however, I do have ATH-M50's and HD600's...- thendawg

Aune T1 USB Tube DAC+ SS Amp Discussion Thread ***See first post for FAQ--Updated on 02/14/15***
Just thought Id chime in on this thread. Ive had my Aune T1 (1st gen) for a little over a year now. Used it with DT990's, HD600's, ATH-M50's, and now my HE-400S. Its honestly a great DAC. I purchased the Genelex (Sp?) Gold Lion tube off the recommendation from this thread (1st post) and felt it...- thendawg

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Just curious if anyone has compared these to the HE-500. Ive seen a couple good deals on HE-500's and always wanted to try a set, and these are on backorder for another month or two :(- thendawg

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Anyone who has these, mind busting out some calipers and telling me what the thickness of the wood ring is? Im contemplating some ideas for replacement connectors and it looks like they've gone out of stock so may be a bit before I can get my hands on them.- thendawg

Also how would you guys rate the power requirements of the 1060's? Would a Magni 2 Uber drive them sufficiently?- thendawg

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Thanks to all of this I plan to order the 1060's and the Audeze pads next week when I have the cash lol. This could literally be my dream headphone. Every TOTL I look at loose quality when you switch from pleather to velour pads, but I strongly prefer velour/soft fiber. For once that type of...- thendawg

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
Very nice! Those pads are velour right? Man this might be my dream can. I love the feel of velour pads but they kill bass response on alot of cans. Currently using the Focus-A pads on my HE-400S as it has velour on the part that comes in contact with your head lol. Could the Brainwavs angled...- thendawg

You compared them You also at one point mentioned the HE-400S - did you compare to them as well? If I already have focus pads on the HE-400S do you think theyre a worthwhile upgrade?- thendawg

Yup it's the HE-400S sorry for the confusion. I'm currently using the focus A pads with them and am honestly pretty satisfied with how they sound but of course still looking to upgrade lol- thendawg

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones
I swear I search google, head-fi, and everywhere else I can find about once a week to see if anyone has been able to review a pair of these yet - so far that one review on monoprice is the only thing Ive seen pop-up. Im sooo excited that these could be like an LCD2 at a far lower price - and...- thendawg

HE-400S Possible damage to diaphragm?
Just wanted to jump in and post an update. I meant to post this last night but fell asleep a bit early. After conferring with HifiMan - they advised although not completely normal, they have seen this deformity of the diaphragm on some of the HE-400 series and it should not cause an issue. They...- thendawg

HE-400S Possible damage to diaphragm?
Thanks for the response - the adhesion coming apart def makes the most sense.(If that's in fact how the diaphragms are built) The first pic I sent to Hifiman yesterday and they claimed they couldnt spot anything wrong :/ (Ill admit the pic wasnt the greatest) but if they dont notice it in this...- thendawg

HE-400S Possible damage to diaphragm?
So I decided to take a look at the other side with the earpad removed - this looks much worse than I originally though. Currently in contact with Hifiman support - well see what they say. Check out this pic - http://i.imgur.com/k7EiDTt.jpg- thendawg

HE-400S Possible damage to diaphragm?
So when taking the grills off my HE-400S I noticed a couple weird what looks like wrinkles in the diaphragm. Im not sure if this is normal or could possibly be causing an issue. Overall the headphones sound amazing - Ive had them about 6 months now and have never really had an issue with them...- thendawg

Amp first, DAC later; will that work?
Funny - Im currently in a similar situation. I have a Magni 2 Uber on its way but plan to use it with onboard audio, at least to start with. I've gotten some mixed feedback on if an external DAC (likely would go with the Modi) will even make much of a difference as to sound quality. Alot of...- thendawg
