Thank you for the suggestion. Have you personally tried that cable specifically with the X3?- lovethatmusic

Philips Fidelio X3
Thank you! Yes, that’s what I would like. Given that I’ve already tried two well-reviewed cables from a Amazon and had the same connection issues with both, I’m hoping to get a strong recommendation from someone that has personally tried a particular cable specifically with the X3 and found that...- lovethatmusic

I was under the impression that nobody is currently getting the balanced cable with the X3’s. Maybe I’m wrong about that. Did you buy your X3 recently and get 2 cables with it - a balanced 2.5 and an unbalanced 3.5? If so, I’m thinking that I’ll buy another X3 to get the stock 2.5 cable.- lovethatmusic

Thanks. Does the fact that the left and right channel are wired differently dictate that only Philips cables will work with the X3 - that aftermarket balanced cables won’t work?- lovethatmusic

Philips Fidelio X3
Has anyone found an aftermarket balanced cable that sounds great with the X3’s? I’ve tried two different brands of balanced cables from Amazon and they both had the same issue - sound from the left but none from the right. I was actually able to get sound from the right channel if I pulled the...- lovethatmusic

Thanks for your suggestion for getting the 3.5 version of the Dawn. I would love to go with the 3.5 just to avoid having to upgrade my cables. That said, I’m seeing the Dawn as a potential endgame portable DAC, so I’d like to feel pretty confident that the 3.5 sounds as good as the 4.4, but I...- lovethatmusic

I’m going to order the 4.4 balanced version of the Dawn. Can you recommend a good balanced headphone cable for a reasonable price?- lovethatmusic

I’ve read your review - that’s perfect, just what I needed - some perspective on the HD Pro and a good upgrade. I seriously appreciate the time and care that you put into describing each aspect of the equipment so thoroughly. Quantifying these elements of sound is really like writing poetry...- lovethatmusic

Thanks for posting this - I’m grateful to have this recommendation from someone that also has real appreciation for the Sonata Pro - the HD V sounds like another great option for me. Looks like I’ll be getting one of these too.- lovethatmusic

I know how it feels to pay a lot for wire, and I’ve wondered about how to make my own, but didn’t know where to start. You-tube, of course! I will probably look into this. Thank you again.- lovethatmusic

Thanks. I just saw your reply about the 3.5mm option, so I’ll probably just go with that. I’m impressed that you’ve been making your own cables. How did you learn to do that?- lovethatmusic

Thank you so much for your perspective on the Sonata Pro and E44, and the suggestion for the Moondrop Dawn. I will look into that model right away. Yes, I love that CS43131 and have been wondering about the possibility of an even better implementation of that chip. Your suggestion is exactly...- lovethatmusic

How does the Sonata Pro compare with the E44? I have been using Sonata Pro’s with my Fidelio X3’s and Etymotic ER3SE’s and I seriously love the tone, etc. - way more than all of the other (AK and ESS) DAC’s that I’ve tried. I’m thinking now about getting the E44’s, but not sure it’s worth...- lovethatmusic

Indeed, bass, not base – I appreciate the correction. And thanks for the reminder about the break-in time. I bought these secondhand and, from what the seller said, I don't think they were used a whole lot, so I'm excited to hear how they shape up over the next several months. I appreciate the...- lovethatmusic

I LOVE the tape mod! I just got these about a week ago and, to be honest, though I really appreciated the rich tone of the sr325es, I was distinctly disappointed be the lack of base compared to my home system. But not any more - I wrapped once all the way around with black electrical tape - now...- lovethatmusic
