AKG K81/518 DJ/LE Thread and *Review*

You're modding K518DJ to sound less bassy? You'll rot in hell for this :D   I have a different question: how to make sure that K81DJ/K518DJ stay bassy? In other words: how to preserve the original clamp that provides much of that sweet bass? I had two pairs, and the first one got too loose...

Review by '94Peter' on item 'Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones'

Sound quality   These are the headphones that showed me the difference of the sound of headphones driven by an integrated audio card and the ones driven by a dedicated one (in my case, Asus Xonar D1). Needless to say, it was absolutely massive. CAL! have fantastic mids, which make every...

    Ultrasone HFI-580 too loose?

Ok, not going to argue. The main point of my post (and this thread in general) is that HFI-580 tend to get too loose, which causes massive problems with bass quantity.   My personal experience with those is that when they sound like they should (which, in my case, was rare), there's an...

    Ultrasone HFI-580 too loose?

Actually my experience with them was that they were incredibly bass-heavy, but only when they wanted to be (which was rare). See my review of them ( http://www.head-fi.org/products/ultrasone-hfi-580/reviews/17793 ) to read more.

    Ultrasone HFI-580 too loose?

I had the same problem, not with one pair but two, and also with AKG K81DJ - again, not just with one pair, but two. This must be related to a flawed design of the headband... or I was very unlucky.   Either way, the inconsistent quantity of bass killed absolutely all the pleasure of listening...

Review by '94Peter' on item 'beyerynamic DT 150 Compact Closed Headphone (250 Ohms)'

These are sometimes recommended for 'people who want lots of bass'. Well, I'm certainly one of those, and to me, DT-150 had hardly any bass at all. You can't feel the subbass; and when you EQ them to the point that the subbass is strong enough to be felt consistently throughout the whole song...

Review by '94Peter' on item 'Ultrasone HFI-580'

Introduction   Hi. Here's my short review of Ultrasone HFI-580. I'm not a professional writer and English isn't my native language, so bear that in mind.   My sound card: Asus Xonar D1 Music I listen to: trance (uplifting, progressive, tech), house (progressive, tech). Sometimes I also...
