Reply to review by 'voxdub' on item 'SoundPEATS Engine4 Bluetooth 5.3 Dual Driver Multipoint IPX4 TWS'
Seen the comments re volume which confuse me, on my Android devices the volume on these goes incredibly loud, to the point I rarely listen above 60%. If you're using on Android ensure you have enabled Developer Options (you'd need this anyway to select high quality LDAC connection) and change...- voxdub

Earbuds Round-Up
Replacement Smabat st-10s black gold arrived a few days ago, damn I've missed these things, and gotta say hats off to NICEHCK, return and replacement sorted no problem despite being outside normal AE return period, great service from them even over holiday period.- voxdub

Earbuds Round-Up
I'm back using the RY4S (HI cable) as Smabat ST10s black gold developed fault on right driver after couple weeks use. I'd totally forgotten how warm these things are, but damn do they sound great for the money and (although I'm generally against EQ) can sound terrific with some adjustments to...- voxdub

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
No and the api integration doesn't feature gapless playback which is a shame (Tidal side I'd imagine). Also Tidal playback absolutely rinses battery which I suppose is to be expected given constant data transfer. The R3 Pro should be very much seen as an offline player with network playback as a...- voxdub

Looks good, I got the official one as only £13 from the Hiby official store, it arrived in 5 days to the UK from China which well impressed me.- voxdub

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
Those aren't the normal issues which require you to update the recovery, that's normally only required if the player simply reboots when attempting to flash firmware. I'd recommend putting firmware on freshly formatted SD card, an old one will do if you have one spare and retry. If it doesn't...- voxdub

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
Thanks for posting this, much appreciated - I tried it for the R3 pro regular version and worked perfectly, now updated to v1.4 :-). I assume something went wrong during manufacture and a lot of devices simply don't have the recovery installed correctly. Glad it can be sorted as otherwise I'd...- voxdub

Earbuds Round-Up
Got bored, the RW-9 drivers are now in the Traceless shells with the branding removed. The cable holes are really small on the Traceless shell at the inner part, so I couldn't use the original cable, thought I may as well colour code everything.- voxdub

Earbuds Round-Up
Been listening to the Yincrow RW-9 for the past couple of days, ordered solely because of recent comments on this thread. I'd rate them right up at the top of budget buds alongside the RY4S UE. They have a less pronounced v shape than the RY4S and lack some of airyness that brings. But what they...- voxdub

They're pretty dull, basically a Vido but without bass, perhaps due to transparent shell plastics (which are gorgeous), I'll probably re-purpose the shells, there are far better options even at the low price of the Traceless.- voxdub

If the excellent and great value RY4S and Monk+ are too cheap perhaps give the Ksearphone Bell-Ti a go, they're a little bit more expensive but will definitely give you a premium feel to go with your projector.- voxdub

Earbuds Round-Up
Probably overkill unless you'll use them for music also, plenty of budget earbuds sound good and would be perfectly fine for TV and film, comfort is why I use earbuds (I have small ears though). I can end up with them in a whole day and absolutely no discomfort which I can't get with headphones...- voxdub

I did so well, not bought any earbuds for about 8 months, last 24hrs bought Snow Lotus 1.0, Traceless and RW-9 after recent comments on here, really excited to try something new, been using BK2 and RY4S UE for what seems like forever.- voxdub

[FiiO M3K] Probably the Most Cost-Effective Hi-Res Music Player, Discrete HiFi DAC Chip, Supports up to 384K/32B
Yeah the M3K is great for the money, there are other players under $100 that have better sound, others that have better UI and others that have better functionality but for a no nonsense ultra portable DAP with Rockbox, good sound quality and huge battery life it's a bargain. I've used it for...- voxdub

Absolute best budget earbuds?
In other news I dug out the old VE Monk+ last week and was surprised how much I enjoyed listening to them. Always had a soft spot for them but been using the **** BK2 and RY4S UE exclusively for past few months, am busy doing final assignment for qualification and have promised myself a new...- voxdub

I can't deal with the sluggish and jerky UI as soon as EQ is applied but tbf never really use EQ on any player, prefer to have vanilla output- voxdub

Yeah there's a bit of lag when waking from standby, but as you say think that's because it essentially hibernate as there's minimal drain leaving it in standby, fine after a few seconds.- voxdub

Been using the latest firmware for the past week it's good, though Fiio still haven't figured out how to have an equaliser function without totally destroying the UI through lag- voxdub
