Massdrop x THX AAA™ 789 Linear Amplifier - Impressions Thread
How does an amp become outdated? Also, it sounds like perhaps your overall setup had issues. I don't think that experience is consistent with what the overwhelming majority of owners report.- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
I deeply regret my purchase. Having since invested in AirPods Max and HD 6XX headphones, the GQ's are borderline unlistenable to me. The sound is really poor imo and not a natural representation of the music. They're also desperately uncomfortable by comparison. As with above comments, the...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
I use my GQ's for hours every day and I'm still mad about them. I have a fairly big head and don't find them uncomfortable. Their musicality is what sets them apart imo. Once I was used to the GQs, I just couldn't enjoy the other headphones I've been able to experience.- KingKrush

Yeah, every single day for many hours. I've got it with the Audioengine D1 and ORA GQ headphones. To my ears, they sound incredible together.- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
What's the recommended case? I'm in South Africa, and I doubt I have easy access to whatever it is. My Mom sews amazing stuff though and a while back made me a fancy little carrying bag for my GQs, so not worried about it.- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Congrats! I've been listening virtually non-stop since setting up the amp and it's just totally recalibrated my already-huge love of music. Paired with the GQ the results are just shockingly good. I listen to a lot of classical music because it's not too distracting while working, and with a...- KingKrush

Massdrop x THX AAA™ 789 Linear Amplifier - Impressions Thread
I took delivery of this 789 amp this morning. Incredibly basic setup: Asus U7 DAC (Cirrus Logic CS4398) + AAA 789 + Ora GQ headphones. Can't believe what a difference it has made. I mostly listen to classical music and it's mindblowing (to my ears at least) how good things sound.- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Only around an hour ago I picked up this amp from a click-and-collect courier. I've got my Asus U7 connected and providing the DAC. Using QED RCA cables that I thought were pretty costly, knowing nothing about audio cables. I cannot believe the difference an amp can make. Switched back and...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
I'll chalk it up to needing better equipment to drive my pair then. There is definitely no fit I can find that produces good bass. Pretty sure I'm getting a good seal. I have been cognisant of the shape of the headphones when wearing them and they feel very comfortable.- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Well it's been a while now and the only thing I don't like about these headphones is the bass response. They have the lightest bass of any headphones I've ever owned - a crushing disappointment. Otherwise they sound great.- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
ORA has specifically mentioned the driver position being deliberately high and based on extensive testing. I'm only now using my GQs fully extended and curving downwards over my ears. Not sure if the sound is better or worse yet, so it can't make a huge difference with my setup or hearing...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
I've looked around the Deezer app and Googled a bit. Doesn't seem like Deezer has any bit-perfect, exclusive, WASAPI etc. option, at least for Windows. Lots of feature requests and complaints about it. I had a trial once for Tidal and never returned. Recommendations and curated playlists were...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Thought I'd share something weird I've discovered, at least in my own subjective capacity: After being curious as to whether the music streaming service I'm using makes a difference to my listening experience, I compared all the services I have access to with my GQs. I have Apple Music thanks...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Thanks for the info! Interesting to know that the U7 has a good DAC. Just to have matching components, and to not worry about the longevity of the Asus U7 (already RMA'd once), I'll get a matching Modi 3 to go with the Magni 3+ and give the U7 to a family member. It's a mission to import from...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
I've been considering an upgrade for a while. Schiit Audio seems like the best value for money. The Jotunheim looks like the sort of thing suited to my simple setup and non-audiophile music life. Do you know if it's worth paying the extra $100 for a "True Multibit DAC" over the AK4490...- KingKrush

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Okay, I've been listening for hours now and I have clearer thoughts about these. Plugged into my Asus U7: They are much better than the M50x. My old headphones are pretty much unusable to me now. The bass is a lot less muddy than the M50x, but I wish the ORA had more oomph. EDM sounds...- KingKrush

While I don't care much for InnerFidelity without Tyll Hertsens, I don't see anything that indicates it's now a shill site. What makes you say that? Received my pair this morning. I'm in South Africa and bought my pair quite late in the Indiegogo campaign. The DHL Express delivery was...- KingKrush

Where are the graphene headphones & speakers?!
I recall this article from back in 2013: https://www.technologyreview.com/s/512496/first-graphene-audio-speaker-easily-outperforms-traditional-designs/ Highlight: To me this is incredible. How much better would this technology be when actually paired with specialised acoustic design...- KingKrush

Fostex TH610 vs Fostex TH900 vs Fostex THX00, what should I buy?
As documented in the bass thread, the TH900 have truly earth-shaking bass. If you're into electronic music I doubt you can make a better choice, as long as you're driving them nicely.- KingKrush

Looking for a DAC (/AMP) for my ATH-M50x's
I'm running my M50X's off the inexpensive Asus U7 external DAC/amp. I also play games, so the mic jack is convenient as I can also use the U7 with my Corsair headset. To my ears the pair sound great together.- KingKrush

Looking to make a starting purchase into the world of decent headphones
I just recently took delivery of Audio-Technica M50X headphones. They're being driven by an affordable Asus U7 external DAC/amp and sound great, although I would recommend the Schiit Audio Fulla 2 for $99 if you still need to buy a DAC. I'm not sure any headphone has the reputation of the...- KingKrush
