    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

I have no idea how i missed the fact that that has a lightning in. Welp that solves that.

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Yup, im currently investigating a DAC for my iphone at work, but the whole wanting toe listen and charge thing is giving some headaches. I know the EF2A on my M50x with the headphone out of the iphone sounds actually quite nice though, so i may just be doing that for a while until i have to bite...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

I amp using the Voshkod Tubes in my EF2a, the DAC sounded great until i used other DACs. I eventually want to hook up a bigger amp for some future headphone purchases but at the moment it does VERY good. The EF2a internal dac has a nasty hum at any volume, likely USB noise. Even from a high end...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

That sounds about right. I recently got the 400I's and was running them on a mica origen+ and felt the same way. I then piped the lineout from the mica to my hifiman EF-2A and found that to be enough to start tickling the 400i's to life. The bass extension is much more pronounced, and while they...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I ended up going with the origen+ for the price vs features. It is defintaly not enough power for the he400i's. I piped its line out into the rca in's on my EF2-A and that is a little better r but i think the A-100 is gonna be the best setup without getting into crazy town.

I was looking at the SMSL SanSkrit or Micca OriGen+. I Also was going to look into seeing if i could drop maybe a 110ohm resistor into there, or something along those lines so i could get a bit more power, but not run the risk of flipping the dial to far and blowing out drivers.

You are my hero. Im pulling the trigger on the 400i's and grabbing this, ill have to find a DAC but temporarily my onboard should be decent.

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I HAD thought about this, i was looking at the audioengine n22 and thinking why couldnt i just run the headphoens off the 20w outputs. Then i started looking around at spare amps i have from previous car stuff, but they start at 300W and the PSU and what not all would take a ton of room, and im...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

That was my initial plan, since i know the capabilities of the ef2-a and the tubes that are in it, and i've heard both the ad700 (what i'm hoping to retire with the 400i's) and the m50x's on it. But from my digging short of going into the >$500 realm there don't seem to be many options over ~...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

So ive been lurking this thread and the HE-400 thread as im ordering some 400is and wanting to replace my m50xs are my home bass cannons (the m50xs dont live up to the title, and have ended up at my office). It looks like the sz2000 is the cans to go with for down low bass heads, but are there...

"Best" Headphones for Directional Audio When Gaming? AT's/AKG's/Beyers?

Wow i was unaware that soundcards had come that far. Honestly i havent used one in a while (no where to put it). I brought up the DLX because ive used that on another computer with my m50x's and it was underwhelming on all front compared to my ef2a.  obviously everything is subjective and a...

"Best" Headphones for Directional Audio When Gaming? AT's/AKG's/Beyers?

I have used various soundcards over the years, even ones with "headphone amps" and what not in them. But even at the $200+ Strix DLX from asus its no where near the power that a 'real' amp will have. I did like the DAC better than what im running [hifiman EF2A] But its entry level at best. You...

"Best" Headphones for Directional Audio When Gaming? AT's/AKG's/Beyers?

Ive just gone through this with a local friend. The end result was a pair of AD900x and an SMSL M3 AMP/DAC hooked up USB to drive them. As a logn time AD700 user it was nice to test new cans (he ordered 5 or so and played with them for a while before choosing). THe wing system on the AD series...

    MassDrop HIFIMAN HE-350 or ATH-AD700X

If you are still looking i would HIGHLY recommend the AD700x. While the bass does not have the impact you can get some some other headphones (i have a set of m50x that are much stronger in the bass department), there is a solid bass extension, and you can certainly here it and feel the drivers...

Need help picking bass heavy IEM's ~$70 CAD

If you can get your hands on them Velodyne Vpulse are the best cost effective IEMs in regarding to bass, and they sound good across the rest of the spectrum too.
