    Holo Audio May DAC Speculation

Hi Googaliser! When you used the HE-1 with the MSB Select, was it still true that the original was better than the HE-1? Or was that only true when using the DAC built-in to the HE-1? Would very much enjoy reading your review of the HE-1 - have you already posted one elsewhere?

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

Recently I tried going back to the electro-harmonix 2A3's that came with this amp, and found them to have a lot more bass punch than the KR Audio. How would you rank the Takatsuki 2A3's for their bass response compared to those two?

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

Oh please be careful when trying to move hot tubes - that's when they're structurally at their weakest (e.g. in terms of the filament's positional stability in regard to the plate), and most likely to stop working if a sudden motion occurs.

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

I've had a WA33 JPS EE for almost two years now, and have been excited to try out the various tube combinations with a Phi TC. I can't believe I forgot about it for all that time, but just yesterday I remembered that there are KNOBS on the front of our WA33's to adjust the impedance and level...

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

The remake was good, granted - but I was thinking of the 1978 original w/actor Lorne Greene (and Terry Carter playing Tigh)!

Oh I just now understood your screen name! Growing up, that was one of my favorite shows. I'll start looking out for friends with screen names, "CmdrAdama" and/or "StrikeCaptainApollo." :dt880smile:

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

Had to take a moment to praise the USAF 596 rectifier when used in this amp. Now I know why I bought this amp, and this rectifier! I originally bought a pair of these 596's in 2019 to use in my WA-234 monoblocks, but absolutely HATED them in there. Tinny, shrill, peaky, bassless and just...

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

That really does look beautiful! I saw with chagrin that Woo ran out of these 417A's. What date codes are on yours? Did they match the date code on all four tubes?

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

It definitely happens and is a defect. I received my TC and both drivers were defective, doing that rattling from time to time, such as with a really resonant cello note (and I don't listen louder than 80 dB). I thought (since this also happens w/my OG 1266) that it was a design flaw and that...

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

I was hoping Woo would have their WA33 on sale for about 10% off for Black Friday, but so far no go. It remains just a little too far out of reach $$$$$ for now.

HIFIMAN Shangri-La: The New Electrostatic Headphones From HIFIMAN

It does help…thanks! A few of our favorites for feeling it while still enjoying the music itself: Sara K. “Running Away from You” Sara K. “Blind-Hearted” Jacintha “The Boulevard of Broken Dreams” And one that’s more of a tech demo to see if a headphone can slam like an Abyss Phi TC: Yosi...

HIFIMAN Shangri-La: The New Electrostatic Headphones From HIFIMAN

How do you feel about the bass? It seems that most reviewers feel that the Sennheiser HE-1 has more impressive slam, but that the Shangri-La still has the extension.

HIFIMAN Shangri-La: The New Electrostatic Headphones From HIFIMAN

Can you elaborate on the setup process? I read somewhere that you have to do some tube biasing (using a multimeter) after a while. Or does HiFiMan send a technician to your home to do that for you?

Please keep us informed along the way! I'm very curious as to how the whole communication, notification - and - delivery happens with this unit, and would be fascinated to read in more detail about your experiences as you go through this.

Eleven Audio XIAUDIO Formula S Headphone Amplifier

My Powerman just arrived today. What’s the correct way to use the two power switches now? 1) Leave the Formula S in the On position at all times, and control the overall power only with the Powerman’s switch? Or 2) Turn on the Powerman first, and then the Formula S? (And then presumably...

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

I can recommend the Woo WA-234 monoblocks, which are a SET design. The ability to use different models of power tubes has proven to be immense fun. Some of my very favorites are the really ancient 45’s, going all the way back to the beginnings: currently I’m using a (circa 1929) pair of...

Eleven Audio XIAUDIO Formula S Headphone Amplifier

Can two headphones play at the same time out of the Formula S, by plugging one into the 3-pin XLRs on the sides, and the 2nd into the 4-pin XLR in the middle?

    Woo Audio Amp Owner Unite

Greetings all, I've been using WA-234 monoblocks together with a Chord BluDAVE, tending to keep the monoblocks' volume knobs at the 9 o'clock position, and the DAVE around -30 dB. I read that it's better for the amp to be set with its volume all the way up, and to turn down the DAC's volume...

    The Reference 6SN7 Thread

Yikes! Please be sure your amp is up to the task posed by VR-102's. Please see http://www.r-type.org/exhib/aaa0300.htm (at the bottom of the page). A VR-102 draws a heater current of 1.3A, literally more than double the 0.6A of a 6SN7. People around here quite correctly warn each other...

    Woo's New Flagship WA33

I currently enjoy Woo's WA-234 monoblocks (the older version that uses 6SN7 drivers) and am considering eventually buying a WA33. I wanted to point out an advantage I perceive of using monoblocks, and try to put to rest a misconception I keep seeing people type in around here. Namely: you...
