Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

It's more like 500 euro (bought 1 year after release xD) and no, Android with decent SoC was a must and dual microsd is very nice to have. Hope PowerAmp alpha update will rollout this month, otherwise I'll root it to enable Compress-Offload...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

@Anarkia333, Sorry for late answer...I have an Audiotechnica ath-msr7 and Sony 1a as daily drivers, and indeed audio artifacts still occur if the track is too silent at low volume. But somehow, using opensl output generates background hiss. I am using Audiotrack output and float32 sample format...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

@Anarkia333 : Not necessarily. I might encountered a glitch but I got no background noise at volume 1-2 with Neutron MP (which doesn't seem to use all the capacities from the dac), and when I switched back to PowerAmp, disabling all effects/eq/DVC and set output setting to AudioTrack, the sound...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

^ It is a sort of clipping meter. But a limiter is applied when it happens, to avoid distorsion.

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

First time the device was acting weird. It became very hot and battery was draining very quickly. Battery widget was reporting 46C before I shut it down by emergency. Android OS and Media Server seem to be the culprits. Loaded a couple of files right before, but it never overheated like this...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

There is a chance of softbricking if not done properly. Installing XVortex's twrp originated from DP-X1 or messing with Kingoroot makes me somewhat nervous, rather waiting for the next build of PowerAmp. As for battery life, don't expect great results in the first runs after a factory reset...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

It is surely using the DAC, but it may change the operating mode when switching to a third party app. It kinda remind me of the former Plenue line of Android DAPs, which runs on degraded mode outside the stock Music app unless a trick is used. Only a logcat will confirm it (or not). But the...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

@ReptilynSamurai : Don't forget to turn off musicFX (stock Android sound effects, but produces significant hiss if enabled) and enable DVC (Settings Menu > Audio > Advanced Tweaks) to remove distorsion.

At least there is one sure thing : in the current state of Poweramp (without modding), the Android audio mixer is not being bypassed and everything is resampled to 48KHz. Also it sounds tinny and will have distorsion issues when enabling EQ with some presets/setups if DVC is set to Off.

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

I'm getting ~14h with intermittent screen on, using PowerAmp 3 alpha with all DSP turned on (but no visualizer animations) and volume set to 65 with variable line out. With 9% of battery remaining. Of course, turning the built-in Vis drains a lot of battery when the screen is on, and Poweramp...

Does anybody have "captured" the URLs of the FOTA updates for this device (Fu_Zin_32...the dp-x1 is codenamed Rai_Zin_32)?

You probably meant "Media Server". @acrox999: Maybe you have recently copied new files and/or inserted microsd cards? This process needs to scan your files in the background and it is quite cpu heavy. Usually battery life gets better after few charges.

^ Blame Android for removing USB MSC protocol, since 4.x. There are workarounds in order to bring MSC back, but it requires having root access. Like using the universal MSC enabler app (available on XDA forums) Then the car system has to support exFAT, if the microSD wasn't formatted into FAT32...
