Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

So due to the fact that most of the phones like Vivo are not optimized for US frequencies I have listened to V10, V20, V30 (for few minutes), Axon 7, Axon 7 Mini, LeTv x800 as well as the HTC 10 with my best pair of cans being HD650 , I feel the LG series are good for critical listening but kind...

Are you getting shrill piercing highs or just that the sound is too thin or airy? Remove the cable from your senns and plug it into the phone first then attach the senns, that should give you aux mode with more power and dynamics

V20 is more analytical while v10 is more musical, V20 outputs more power and is the better quality DAC overall like cleaner treble and smooth mids but V10 has more sub bass and more 3D in its presentation

I got rid of my V20 a few days ago.....developed screen retention sent to LG twice and both “new screens” had the same issue, the retention on my unit was really bad even on the lowest brightness and I’ve had tons of people with the same issue

    Android phones and USB DACs

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but it's worth a shot....enable developer options and change the usb options in "Select USB configuration" ....just note the default option first then try it out

"Also take note before purchasing an otg cable to hook up Q1 Mark II with a smartphone. There are two options (ways). First, male Micro usb to male Micro usb. Second, male Micro usb to female usb Type-A and male usb Type-A to male Micro usb. First option will “tell” Q1 Mark II that a smartphone...

Check this out for OP5 , V20 is more tall than wide feels small in the hand....high gain is impressive if you have high impedance cans or use the adapter trick.

V20 is like the HD650 or HD600 they give you great sound but most people find them boring, sometimes it boils down to headphones as well but yeah v20 can be too analytical i use it on the go or when I want to hear things in the music I haven't heard before for more musical sound I liked the...

Thanks for the heads up, that's a good price especially if they still have the prepaid airtime deal to go along with it but I'm crossing my fingers for $150 on BF because it certainly beats the big brother in terms of sound and from factor

I'm using the E4 plus with q1 as my backup and home listening while my v20 is being repaired and it works great so I can't imagine the G5 being any worse especially with a good camera and memory card slot

Audio and camera no.... I'm not sure if they have changed anything with recent updates but it lacks some treble and air that the v10 has especially with more neutral cans, everything else like battery life and speakers yes but significant isn't a word I'd use either way....just better

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

V20 drives my HD650....on a properly mastered track I can go 60 out of 75 and it's really loud....G6 should at least be the same....it's still a mobile device and dedicated setup will drive those cans better but it still sounds dam good, I think it maybe better to get something low impedance...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

What I would probably do if I were you is research which is the better phone overall between the Leeco and the Axon, if you decide that it's the Axon then maybe you can sell the Leeco and now you have headphone jack with a good DAC, awesome speakers, no extra bulk or adapters while mobile then...

Do you already have the q1 on hand? I don't currently have the Axon but I did for a while, the only thing I didn't really like was the camera but the battery life was excellent even with the 2k screen, as far as sound imo the v10 and v20 in aux mode beats the Axon overall, the q1 beats the v20...

That the Q1 sounds better? It's not that the Axon was terrible I thought it was just ok...without Dolby it was just as powerful and kind of sounded similar to an iPhone 7plus just more details, when I put it next to a V10 on aux mode the v10 made my open back Philips come alive with better...

I think the q1 through OTG connection will sound better, better treble, more airy and more power on high gain, you will need a USB type c to micro USB otg cable to activate the DAC inside the q1, other than the camera it was a very good device one of the best phones I've ever owned.....use Dolby...

I've never heard the momentums but I think what matters is how it sounds to you....I can PM you some budget options if you can find them and audition to see if they beat the momentums

Yea it just a gold plated OTG cable with maybe a stronger cable....i really don't think so but it's up to you....I would add a few more dollars and maybe get some budget cans lol headphones make up at least half the experience after all.

I meant on the phone itself not the Fiio, max the source in this case the phone then control volume from the Fiio, normalization will force tracks that are naturally louder and more dynamic to lower levels at least to my ears.....you might have to skip track to hear any difference

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Did you max the volume on the G5? Also try turning off the normalization feature in Spotify, I'm trying to get a pair of HD600s to try with the V20 and of course the q1

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Just did some reading on the mkii it seems to work the same....no led but as long as you are using otg to your G5 the DAC/amp is active just make sure to turn off the charging switch while connected to the phone if it has one , I find high gain to give a more dynamic sound even at low volumes...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

If you are using OTG connection with the Q1 the DAC is activated, if you use aux then it's only the amp, if you have a Oneplus 5 or V20 you will need a USB type C to micro USB adapter because the Fiio is micro USB

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

With OTG cable my Q1 works with Spotify most people forget to turn off the charging switch at the bottom which when on will usually stop playback after each song, it also works with Tidal, Google Music and even YouTube, tested on Moto G4 plus and V20 the K1 should be the same I also read on...
