ZMF BOKEH - Closed Back (Semi-Portable)
Hey guys, I have both the Atticus & Eikon from OG days and never got past powering them with solid state amps & hybrids like by Schiit, and BY FAR I prefer the Eikon ... where would you say the Bokeh would fall comparatively if I'm powering with a moondrop dongle or just out of a laptop or phone?- GrussGott

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
Definitely sell them to someone who'll appreciate them as these are not headphones that should be sitting on a shelf. Given you've got the bose you prefer, no reason to hang onto the Bathys- GrussGott

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
Ok, so I got the Bathys for $600 shipped from crutchfield (used a little credit to knock $30 off the 20% off deal) and ... W. T. F?! The Bathys are stunning! If one doesn't like the Bathys for $600, $800, or even at $1000 then I have no idea what you want, but for $600, OMG what a steal! I...- GrussGott

Focal Bathys Hi-Fi Bluetooth & ANC Headphones: Early Impressions
You could try something cheap like the final audio UX3000, which sound great. Resolve mentions them in his review of the Bathys et al near the end at 25m- GrussGott

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion
Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for as I've listened to everything from B&W then (including the 9s which were horrible IMO) and was wondering if I should grab the PX8s or just give up. Sounds like the PX8 are the next step from the P7s- GrussGott

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
BRAIN TRUST! Your opinion is needed: Best amp around $1000 for ZMF Atticus. Probably something OTL?- GrussGott

Side By Side Comparison - AirPods Max, B&O H95, Dali iO-6, B&W PX8, ML 5909, M&D MW75, Focal Bathys and more
Thanks! Yeah, my biggest need is something that sounds as good wireless as the Eikons sound wired. By no means do I have TOTL equip, but for me the Eikons don't need it. So it sounds like the 5909 wireless will be tonally most similar to Eikons wired. Overall I tend much more to the fun...- GrussGott

Wow, excellent write-ups and GREAT thread @Maukey, probably one of the best threads I've come across on HP forums, so thanks very much! With that, and maybe I missed it, but any experience with ZMF headphones and specifically the Eikon? I'm a big fan of it's tone, sub-bass, excellent vocals...- GrussGott

Personal preference but I wouldn't run them wired unless you have to as they're not made for that - the ear cups are different shapes/sound profiles due to the proximity sensor and the DSP seems to correct for that. IMO, if you don't need noise cancelling, there's no reason to use these HPs -...- GrussGott

Just in case this helps anyone, I've done some experimenting with this lately. my setup is always a macbook pro (though I've tried a few), and an android phone (also tried a few). Initial connection of 2 devices: • Haven't had any problem and it mostly does it automatically. E.g., as soon I...- GrussGott

Sony WH-1000XM4 discussion and reviews
Just went and did some back-to-backs of Freddie Freeloader switching between the Sonys bt 360 and my ZMFs - ignoring the sound signature, i do have to say the 360 audio sounded like it was in a much larger club, though still intimate, and the ZMF much more intimate. So there's something to it!- GrussGott

I've done the setup including tidal, and have tried it with their playlist "360 Reality Audio" and, for me, it wasn't much of a change, however I think the real question is, compared to what? My normal set up for music are ZMF Eikons which are closed and while not ZMF's TOTL I do prefer their...- GrussGott

I should've added that it seems to matter which device connects first - it's worked flawless for me when the phone is the first device and the laptop is "bluetooth 2nd device connected". Yes, i'm using a macbook pro and android phones: If I'm listening to a video or Tidal on my laptop and a call comes in on my phone, the M4s pause the laptop source and switch to the phone, I take the call, and then when I hang up, it switches back to laptop and unpauses whatever was playing...- GrussGott

Excellent review! I couldn't agree more with most of the points made - for me the auto/start/pause w/ talking is worth the price alone. ultimately I returned the M3s because I'd rather use my B&W P7s that don't have ANC than M3s which cancel hum thus making talking/babies/clinking louder while...- GrussGott

Which negative comments? What's are your priorities? What trade-offs are you willing to make? What do you listen to and in what mix? Sony WH-1000XM4 discussion and reviews
Judging from the ANC measurements curves out there, your experience seems to be by design, i.e., Sony XM4s aren't as concerned with air purifier noise rather the cafe type noise: voices, clinking glasses, crying babies. Note how the XM4 has lower ANC than the XM3 in the 100-200 range, then...- GrussGott

yup, exactly - I have a feeling the M4 is doing a lot of analysis and compensating for various things (for example, the proximity sensor in the left cup is gonna cause a channel imbalance), so yeah wired will be fine as long as it's powered.- GrussGott

No problems for me with the mic - I have a lot of wireless headphones and I had previously used a pair of Bose OEs for calls as they have excellent mic quality for the listener but being on-ear, they don't block out noise as well. The M4s have a pretty good mic setup, not quite as good as the...- GrussGott

Ha, not to get in to the whole subjectivist vs objectivist thing but many of us believe most audio testing is for ballparking at best and there are many qualities that can't or don't show up in tests. For example, if you're walking down the street and hear guitar music through a window - you...- GrussGott
