Any Gershwin fans out there? Recommendations?
Do you have his Piano Concerto? Ormandy / Entremont do a decent job. Also, the Rattle recording of "Porgy & Bess" is superb.- Odi_et_Amo

Recommend female Jazz Vocalist?
Perhaps not a jazz vocalist per se, but you might want to check out Ute Lemper's album, Punishing Kiss. She sings songs by such song-writing luminaries as Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, &c.- Odi_et_Amo

Gerald Finzi - anyone?

Who is your favorite composer?
Mozart gets my vote. It was through him that Western Music reached its zenith. I might even vote for him if the only piece he left us was Figaro . Brahms is my other favorite. As Schonberg wonderfully summed it up, "Economy yet richness." Ligeti and Lutoslawski round out my top four.- Odi_et_Amo

otto klemperer and beethoven
Beethoven's Third is where I think Klemperer really shines. Both versions that Dark Angel linked to are worth the money. I have both, but I find myself listening to the 1961 recording more than the 1955 reading. Klemperer is one of the few conductors that get the Funeral March right...at...- Odi_et_Amo
