Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

This is almost exactly where I am at with this amp. I'm getting the Modi Multi-bit DAC first, and then this if  a simple cable swap works for my HE-500 cans (similar to your 600s). It just seems like a really great deal for that kind of  U.S. made power.

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Newb question: If I were to buy a little 6 inch cable with a termination of a male 4 pin balanced xlr (to plug into the Joti) and the other end terminated in a 6.3mm female port (so I could just plug my SE terminated cans into it), would I get full power output/ benefits of the balanced...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I'm looking at my G109A and it's looking back like it's high noon. This Schiit is dangerously tempting.

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

Any v-moda cables on Amazon should work for about 12 (without buttons) to 15 (with buttons) bucks.

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

Thanks! I'm really hoping HiFiMAN starts making custom, interchangeable, and differing material backs to change the look and sonics of this headphone. They could call them MyFiMANs...

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

This is a really early work in progress, but I wanted to showoff the wood cups idea I was talking about a couple of pages back. These are made from Redwood that I was able to reclaim from my parents house after some repairs. I have never worked with wood before so this has been and is a bit of a...

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

I have to agree even though I have yet to try all these high end headphones. I have been without my HE-500s for some time now because of traveling, and I don't miss them. The Edition S is keeping that jones at bay. I can't keep them off my head.

    XDuoo X3 DSD 24Bit / 192KHz CS4398 Chip Lossless Music Player

With stock firmware you can make your own files on your micro SD card labeled whatever you want and then chuck songs of your choice into those files. With the Rockbox firmware I have no clue as that is unavailable to me at the moment.

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

I'm not too sure how much sound leaks into or out of the Edition S while closed. Most of my listening has been in my room. However, I will say that someone was yelling my name from my doorway, about 3 feet away, several times and I had no clue until I looked up, jumped out of my socks, and told...

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

I have had the Edition S for about a week, and I can tell you those reviews have some points that I agree with and some that I don't agree with. First, the Edition S is not a low end product. Hifiman has produced dynamic headphones before in the HE-300 and the HE-350 Massdrop exclusive. These...

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

Huh. Both hinges fall freely when holding the headphone right side up for me. I just thought it was supposed to be that way.

Man I thought I got a good deal at 189 US! Oh well, super great sounding cans so far.

    Budget Lossless MP3 Player

I was curious about the Ruizu x02 as well. 70 hours of playback is nuts right? I also saw the  AGPtEK A02 DAP that runs for like 25.00 US and is an Amazon best seller. It has like double the reviews and should still be close to your price. I think the cheapest Fiio is the Fiio M3 for like 50.00...

Reference headphones with adequate bass response

When I was first researching them I heard how heavy they were on the neck and how uncomfortable the the ear pads were. I used to wrestle in high school, many moons ago, but I still have a decently strong neck from all those neck bridges so the weight didn't bother my neck too much. Also, the...

Reference headphones with adequate bass response

I have to agree. The HE-500 when driven well, I use the Lake People G109A, sound very clear and accurate. The bass on the HE-500 is present but not distracting at any point. Man, I love orthos especially when they build up you neck muscles.

    New Member Introductions thread

Hello everyone,   I have been a long time lurker on Head-Fi, and I figure it is well time I signed up. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile. I don't have the training or vocabulary for such a label. However, I do have a passion for listening to all types of music-- I always have...

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

I haven't had any time to play with them as they are still on the way. However, from the pictures it looks like those magnets hold the back of the headphone closed with a magnetic plate that is attracted to the metal grill. I would make some wood (or any material) backs you wanted, reduce the...

Hifiman Edition S - NEW Closed Portable

I just bought these, and they seem like they would be fun to mod with different backs. I'm thinking of slapping some wood backs on these bad boys. Maybe I better actually listen to them first heh.
