I have a 5.5 gen with 2 x 512 SD cards, Tarkan Dual, 1,900 battery. Been working perfectly for 2 years without a single issue using Rockbox and OF to transfer files.

Thanks for this. I probably should have been more specific. I have a couple of these 1900 mAh batteries lying around and they're great for the thick back. I was hoping to find something similar in size to Alex's battery which did not necessitate cutting the frame. Appreciate the reply anyway.

Has anyone managed to find a decent alternative to Alex's 2000 mAh battery? (in terms of something that fits with quad + thin back)

He's pretty flaky in my experience, but seems to come through eventually, so hopefully the current issues will get sorted out. If you're in a hurry consider the 1900 mAh battery (unless you need the thin back). It offers about the same performance in my experience. I get around 30 hours...

Has anyone had any success ordering from Alex recently? Both his ebay page and website seem to have payment issues.

  You should be okay with the 2000mAh. The issue is limited to the 1900mAh as far as I know.

  Thanks for this. I think on balance I'm going to go with the 1900mAh. The 3000mAh looks a bit fiddly to fit and the seller of the 1900 seems to be more of a known quantity.
