Look I have HD800S which everyone mostly is complaining for being bright, I dont have that issue. I'm in my 40s.... secondly hp's signature is also variable of synergies amp/dac. Anyways you have right of return in 30days window if you purchase directly from HifiMan I believe, if you wanna try...

I have Silver Litz, which I got as a deal with Cascade, awesome, tight sound, impactfull, highs not sharp not even on M17.

Yeah I heard ESS is little clinical, Cirrus Logic has nice booty bass, still very clean but no sharpness even with HD800S. I am planning to get one S17 Pro Class A to have additional flavour.

I got one all BA set also for first time and I'm extremely happy, its Dunu SA6 MK2. This set should be tier higher, if tuning alright, no spikes in upper mids or sibilance, I believe might be a kilobuck killer, same as M17 best dap for a price.

Gustard R26 is by all reviews top tier DAC and can not go wrong modded or not. I bet you will be very happy.

Yeah A70 Pro is a nice amp, has very nice dynamic range and slam, power wise everything is driven like it should .

I got Dunu SA6 MK2 and what a pair with M17. Never thought iem can have such stage, details and warmness with proper punch being BA only. Didn't wanna go Top route as I heard it has slower bass and classic Harman tuning while Dunu has gone in different direction.

Mine M17 has somehow laggy touch display, its non-responsive I have to hold my finger long enough to accept touch otherwise feels like its frozen. Anyone with same issue?
