KG Megatron vs KG Stax T2
The bass on Megatron - the hole "rich" tonality without thickening it - is something really special and pleasing. I fully agree, with Megatron (and T2) there is no desire for a planar or dynamic headphone for having a bass experience. According to Soren, also bass precision is noteworthy...- Schelp san

KG Megatron vs KG Stax T2
Yes, definetely, but similar to Megatron mostly at the input (respectively at the first two stages at Megatron). I was not expecting this, but if e.g. comparing a Tungsram 88 with a Reflektor, Valvo 188 or Siemens CCa, to me these make a relatively big difference to the sound signature. Some...- Schelp san

KG Megatron vs KG Stax T2
Happy that you like the Siemens gray. The Siemens CCa gray (I have a complete set now) are definetely a small but really noteworthy improvement over the standard 88 gray. Soon there will be in total 11 sets of input tubes, waiting to be compared (I went a bit crazy, lol). Which Reflektors did...- Schelp san

KG Megatron vs KG Stax T2
Can I ask which tubes you tried on the T2 and which you prefer? I have a lot of (most for input) tubes now and more on its way. Interested in the findings of others.- Schelp san

I do not know the TAD, but I understand that if the ECC80 could be a little bit too much. In my case it depended also on which source I used.- Schelp san

Teefunken ECC83 was also my favorite, in the first stage sometimes Tele ECC82 or the even more energetic sounding ECC80. Curious which one you will like better.- Schelp san

T+A HiFi - DAC 200 - Official Discussion Thread
Few days ago I was in contact with T+A about this. They said software and everything would be ready, but they (and other companies) are waiting for the Roon certification (since Roon would belong now to HK, it would be very slow). They were unhappy about it, because they cannot announce a clear...- Schelp san

T+A HiFi - DAC 200 - Official Discussion Thread
Happy new DAC200 owner here, coming from Musetec MH-DA005. I wanted to get it together with MP200, but will wait till June or so when they will ship them with the new streaming platform 3 which they already implemented in MP2500 and HV series. Main functions are the ability to pass DSD data...- Schelp san

The Stax Thread III
Recently I also wanted to have a Sigma/404, so I got a Lambda 404 and a Sigma NB and changed the drivers. Now there is a Lambda NB and a Sigma 404. Also the 404 cable is now with the Sigma. Swapping the drivers is not difficult, however I only recommend doing it if you have a little bit of fine...- Schelp san

Usually Ucrainian dealers are selling these. Shipping works surprisingly good. I can forward you a contact of the guy who sold me my Reflektors. I had to pay after a received and tested the tubes with the option to return them. But not sure if he has these in stock right now. I'm tempted to try...- Schelp san

The Stax Thread III
My Siemens CCa grey shield sound indeed much more dynamic with tighter bass and better treble extension compared to the '74 Reflektors silver shields. Stage is very precise with the Siemens, but not as 3D and huge than with the Reflektors. As much as I like the Reflektors, but in most cases the...- Schelp san

I experienced the same huge 3D like stage on T2 with the 1974 Reflektors, these are indeed special. My '74s are trading some dynamics/engagement though, respective are on the softer side. Which input tubes did you use before the Reflektors? I still enjoy rolling the input side, received NOS...- Schelp san

KG Megatron vs KG Stax T2
Interesting, I did never read about the E180CC being a possible replacement at this position. So you prepared your Megatron for another "arm wrestling" with T2? Let us know then  I never tried a 12BH7 at Megatron and also no Mazda 12AX7, sounds again very interesting. "Problem" for me...- Schelp san

6922 Tube Review - 17 Top 6922 6N23P E88CC CCa 7308 E188CC tubes
The first ones seem to be silver, the second grey shield. This guy from austria was selling good CCa to some I know. A grey was 330-350€, so not cheap either. Not sure what he currently in stock. http://www.koschuh.com/- Schelp san

6922 Tube Review - 17 Top 6922 6N23P E88CC CCa 7308 E188CC tubes
The seller of my pair grey shield CCa had only this one pair. I paid 350€ for a matched pair with as new measurements. I had to search and wait for that offer, easy find them for double the price. And there seems to be fakes of the CCa out there. The standard E88CC grey I saw for about 200-250€...- Schelp san

6922 Tube Review - 17 Top 6922 6N23P E88CC CCa 7308 E188CC tubes
I was recently testing some Siemens in my T2. The CCa silver shield from your link are good tubes, but I did not find them outstanding. The asked price I find way too high. I also tested Siemems E88CC silver shield A-frame getter, which I found similar to the CCa silver shield. I returned both...- Schelp san

I can assure that different tubes, especially in the first two stages of Megatron, can make a very noteworthy difference (I tested 5 different in 1st, 4 different in 2nd stage and 3 in 3rd). Same I experienced in T2 where I tested 6 sets in the input (latest finding: “just get” Siemens CCa...- Schelp san

Stax SR-X9000
For me it was exactly the opposite way. In the beginning I was totally disappointed, wanted to sell X9000. Over time and with using Megatron this impression changed and I had only single aspects which I criticised. With tuning Megatron by tube rolling towards my taste (same with T2), I say its...- Schelp san

Stax SR-X9000
Just one remark. I think it is not so much about all SS vs Hybrid vs all tube (not considering synergy and personal preferences). That would IMO be a superficial idea, from the technical point of view, to reduce amplifiers to basic concepts. From what I experienced not all amplifiers of one...- Schelp san
