    Luxman P700u Headphone Amplifier Thread

+1 regarding a pre-amp out I could use with a power amp. Can't really understand why Luxman did not include one. Also, not sure if I am the only one with this problem but the loop out (thoughout) only outputs the single ended input (which only one). So, not only can't it work as a preamp but it...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Thanks again for the additional information. The point regarding the non existence of a "re-send" mechanism in (most?) USB dac implementations is one of the reasons why I think a good dedicate streamer with a good clock/isolation/low-noise etc is so important (without the re-send possibility...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Hi there, No I wasn't really aware of what DSD over PCM was. The Auralic is a new adition to the system, so nothing wrong with the sound, I simply assumed native was the real deal while DoP would mean some sonic compromise. If that is the case I am fine. Regarding my questions, I assume...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Hi all, I currently have a Hugo (mk1) connected to an Auralic Aries (the full fat one). In this configuration I can only get the DSD lights in the Hugo when I activate DoP (DSD over PCM) in the Aries but this is, if I understand correctly because the Hugo only supports DSD in DoP...

Headphones that sound most like Sonus Faber or B&W speakers

WOW what an old post. How long ago was this!   Reading my post, it's funny to see how things change as our experience progresses. I have a ton more experience with loudspeakers now, in a wide price range. The cheapest ones that made me feel comfortable were actually from Wilson Audio, the...

    [review/comparison] Beyerdynamic DT1350, T50p, Sennheiser HD25-1-ii, HD25-13-ii, Pioneer HDJ-2000, V-Moda M80, Aiaiai TMA-1

Hi all,   One word of warning, I found the K518 DJ much boomier than K518LE. The LE's are just right for me, bass has impact (unlike the Pioneers) a certain 'kick' but does not 'boooom' or make mids blurry. 2 other advices: strech them before using (ball, speakers or by hand but GENTLY!) and...

Quote: Hi all, sent the hdj2000 back after trying the akg k518LE, these are really really good for under half the price. If you are into any of these headphones try the akgs first. The pioneers just sounded wrong by comparison. They sounded 'hifi' but wrong! Will elaborate when I get...

    [review/comparison] Beyerdynamic DT1350, T50p, Sennheiser HD25-1-ii, HD25-13-ii, Pioneer HDJ-2000, V-Moda M80, Aiaiai TMA-1

Quote: Hi there,   Regarding TMA-1 I really must say I have little experience with them, but they did feel more forward to me than the Pioneers (but this was only with an iphone). And I meant 'more revealing' than the Pioneers, not revealing in it's own right.   Regarding...

Hi all,   I bought HDJ-2000 a week ago and I would like to share a couple thoughs, maybe a review later on:   context: - these are DJ headphones, the flagship product of a line of DJ gear where Pioneer very very very VERY BIG - ... this means they did not really care how this would...

    [review/comparison] Shure SRH 840, Audio Technica ATH-M50, M-Audio Studiophile Q40, Pioneer HDJ-2000

Quote:   Thank you for your reply. From what I understand the D2000 would be somehow more 'mellow' although more correct and hi-fi sounding. The treble rollof in the Pioneers is ok for me (even very loud from an iphone they were never ever agressive!) but if I could change something I...

    [review/comparison] Shure SRH 840, Audio Technica ATH-M50, M-Audio Studiophile Q40, Pioneer HDJ-2000

Quote:   Thank you for your reply. I was also actually considering the D2000 as an alternative (based only on reviews only, need to buy to listen).   Today I had another listen to the Pioneers (from the iphone out only) and I did enjoy them a lot with house music and some pop/rock...

    [review/comparison] Shure SRH 840, Audio Technica ATH-M50, M-Audio Studiophile Q40, Pioneer HDJ-2000

To all who may care, I just tried the HDJ-2000 extensively and my conclusion is that when you have been spoiled for years by the HD-600 mids, no DJ headphone is satisfying anymore, no matter how much I crave for real 'meaty' bass for house music (which the HD-600 simply can't deliver)...

Audez'e & Hifiman Orthos - Enough about their sound, what about musicality???

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I just affraid of ordering a pair of LCD-2 (seems to be the ones I'd like the most) and end up feeling like I did on the HD-800 (great sounding but not engaging) but looks that that may not be the case... and then I'd have to send them back and pay return...

Audez'e & Hifiman Orthos - Enough about their sound, what about musicality???

Hi all,   I've read most of what's been written on Audez'e & Hifiman's latest and greatest, but sadly most reviews focus mainly on 4 things: highs, mids, lows and soundstage. What about music?   And Musicality?    PRAT?   Involvement?   You know, that Foot-tapping feeling...

    My Music Server!

Thank you for posting this. I believe most people have not yet realized the importance of user interface in their listening habits, and I mean both the interface itself (mac with itunes, iphone remote, pc with jr media center, etc) but also the way each person organizes the music.   I can...

AirTunes, Airport eXpress, X-Dac v3. Goodness!

Yeah I was hoping he'd get the email notification... From my research I don't think I'll be able to get it going smoothly and as I don't need the streaming capability (just the bit perfect part) I'll probably return it and by the macbook pro I was going to buy anyway and use it's digital out...

sorry for bumping such an old thread but I've got the same X-DAC V3 and just bought an airport express - line out (analog) works flawlessly but the digital out give me loads of stuttering! I found people saying it's because of poor implementation of the DAC's optical in and should affect all...

Got the HD800....the cynic is now speechless

The discussion is only valid because this is not a perfect world where you can grab 5 different headphones and try them all at home for a month before deciding the one you like best.... People need some feedback before spending their cash, even if sometimes (not always) there is a money-back...
