The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
I did, as well as much better punch to the low end (with my IER-Z1R). The dynamic range felt much improved, especially on older tracks that weren't necessarily mastered all that great. I am fairly confident I will be purchasing one in the future. :D- terminaut

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
It was stunning. I went back to listen to it several times (and people were starting to call me out... "you again?!"). Until today, I was always thinking it's likely just a small incremental improvement over the WM1Z but that's not true at all... at least not when paired with my IER-Z1Rs and the...- terminaut

Hahaha that's true. It's just that I wouldn't know how to tell my daughter we're not going to be able to send her to college after all. :P Man - ignorance was bliss.- terminaut

Listening to that was a financial mistake. It blew me away. It's on a whole 'nother level over my WM1Z and I am now figuring out how to convince the wife I NEED one!- terminaut

CanJam SoCal 2021 Impressions Thread (September 25-26, 2021)
My photodump for the day. Mostly was auditioning gear and didn't focus on pictures but overall was a great showing at the event. Kudos to The Source A/V (Steve's the man!) for bringing so much summit-fi equipment for us all to enjoy.- terminaut

SONY IER-Z1R
Took some photos of "stabilizers" that I recently came across on eBay which I found to be really great for customizing the fit of the Z1Rs to my ears. One of the challenges I've had with these IEMs is that the heavy weight causes it to sag and the sharp edges end up pressing against my ear lobe...- terminaut

Yeah whoever is in charge of UX (user-experience) on the Z1R team blew it. These IEMs are sublime when you're able to achieve ideal fit/seal though, so are well worth the exercise of experimenting. I have spent countless hours rolling through tips and custom-made "stuff" but think I may have...- terminaut

Keep in mind they run sort of small compared to other brands, so the "large" is more of a medium.- terminaut

I'm sad to say I don't know where those "stabilizers" came from as they were in my box of stuff I'd acquired over the years. The heavy shells on the Z1Rs tend to droop into a position that makes some of the IEM's edges press uncomfortably against my ear lobes so I've experimented with various...- terminaut

I did observe more treble as insertion depth increased my ear. I'm not sure if it's the Eartunes doing that or if it's just the nozzle going further in. Here's my setup:- terminaut

Based on your posts here I bought a set of large Eartunes and they are now my favorites. The fit/seal is perfect and seems to have brought about more punch with the bass and low end. I'm listening to old Elton John (Madman Across The Water in DSD) and the drums are just phenomenal. I used to...- terminaut

Ever since I bought the 1950s cable for my Z1R I've been in total bliss listening to them on my WM1Z (stock 3.02 firmware for Japan region). I have to admit I'm curious about the ERLKöNIG though and you seem to have ALL the top IEMs... so the obvious question is which do you...- terminaut
