    Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread

Aww man, sorry to hear you sold your Stax gear, but I completely understand! At least you still have your Purplehearts, I listen to mine on a daily basis and use my L700's for special occasions :) PH's are on the short-short list of headphones I'll never sell.

Oh, I already have an SRM-1 of my own, was just giving a little comparison to the one higher Energiser I also own. Between Padam and Jim, you've received solid advice and more experience than I could contribute. I DO think SRM-1 is a very competent entry energiser for those with limited funds...

Can't compare those specific energisers, but my impressions with my L700 Mk 1 with the ones i have...... 252S is sure an okay starting point for what it was at the time I bought it. SRM-1/MK-2 definitely steps up the detail vs 252S, though my particular unit sounds a touch bass-light and may...

    Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread

Yeah, I have horrible hearing and bad tinnitus as well. There's good news....after *cough* enough years with tinnitus, your brain will eventually do its' own version of "noise cancelling" and largely ignore it. I only hear the ringing now if I suddenly remember I have it (LOL yes, I'm serious)...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Yeah, the Lawton mod is easy to do, and the instructions on the website were good enough for me. Hardest part is the very tiny screws that hold on the wood cups. I have mechanic-like hands, NOT suited for delicate work like that at all, but I got it done. As far as fitment of the dampening...

    Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread

I'll never get rid of my Stax, obviously (SR207 and L700). But in addition, the HPs in my current collection I'd also never get rid of are HD 600 and HD6XX (with custom Cardas 1/4" cable and Cardas XLR cable) and my Fostex TH-X00 Purplehearts (Lawton driver dampening and ZMF pads). Everything...

The Stax SR-L500 and SR-L700 Impressions Thread

That chart!!! I haven't started using MiniDSP, UMIK-1 and REW on my Home Theater yet, but it's on the to-do list. I've had my twin subs measured by an acquaintance though, and I'm VERY jealous of that straight-as-a-board bass graph!! I have a decent bass hump, but since I'm 100% focused on movie...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I frequently compare the overall FR of my Stax earspeakers to my HD600. Both my SR207 and L700 sound pretty close to HD600 to my ears.......I'm sure someone with better ears could pick out differences besides the obvious E-stat advantages that I don't need to rehash here.

The Stax SR-L500 and SR-L700 Impressions Thread

I can't directly answer your question, but I can answer about SR207 vs L700, as I own both. SR207 and L700 have surprisingly about the same FR...which is to say, largely Neutral to my ears. L700 simply outdoes SR207 in every category to me, though. Faster, more detailed, more comfortable, etc...

Ah, thanks for that! Sadly, my chances of being able to afford a KG amp in the future are quite slim. I'm still holding on to my SRM-1 MK2, but mostly just because it has one Normal Bias output and I'd like to retain that capability if I ever run across older Staxes in the future. 353X is the...

    The Stax Thread III

Oh, some people have different priorities is all, I think. I already had a setup better than most people will ever dream of in my L700 + 353X. I could have spent a lot of money chasing a little bit more...... But in my case, I decided to spend that $5K on twin subwoofers for my Home Theater...

I only own 2 Stax models, so can only offer that comparison. Compared to my SR-207, yes, L700 is definitely better.

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Wow, you have dexterous hands to take the cups off so many times! My hands are more suited for "fist=hammer...urg!" tasks; and removing the cups once to do the Lawton mod was enough for me. On the plus side, if I can do it, anyone can probably do it!

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

Yup. Based on recommendations on Head-Fi, I ran all Blue Jeans cables through my multiple headphone amps. I started building my Home Theater setup shortly after, and I have all Blue Jeans RCA and subwoofer cables there too. Recommended :)

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

LOL in all honesty, buy the ZMF Ori pads. There have been tests long-buried in this thread (even with FR graphs) where the ZMF pads are the second-best. The best being Jmoney pads from MANY years ago that can't be purchased anymore.

TH-900 Fostex EZ-Simple Mods and other Fostex Dynamic Variants X00...Denon..More Bass ? Mid ? Soundstage ? Smooth trebles ?

I did the Lawton driver-only mod to my X00 Purplehearts, and also added ZMF Ori pads. That's as far as I got with mods, but consider both to be very worthwhile. I always intended to also try rotating the foam disc, as well as @Vracer111 's custom attenuator mod, but never got around to the @ 10...

It's a straight pass-through. I pass the signal from my DAC *through* my Stax energizers first, and the chain ends at the amp for my Dynamic headphones. I can listen to my Dynamic headphones with my Stax amps off (as I'm doing at this moment). Or, if I switch on one of my 3 Stax amps, I can...

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

I hate to be a broken record, but you should hear Stax if you're into detail. I firmly espouse my own idea that you should take two entire WEEKS to become used to them before doing serious comparisons with other HPs. I call this "brain burn-in", but there's almost zero chance I coined the phrase...

    Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread

First off, let me say outright I don't own either L300 variant. I do own an L700. The main draw of the L300LE, I believe, is that the driver is close to the L700 driver. Identical? Maybe yes, maybe no....I haven't seen anything definitive either way. But I don't think many would disagree that...

Hey, now.....I like that a LOT! I've done the "Straw mod" to my 207's, but gotta admit it looks kinda fuggly like that. This method is MUCH more visually appealing. Only question....does it increase the headband clamp? The SR207's are already quite tight on my skull to begin with, and take some...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Ooh, the 404LE..would love to have one of those! The 2 STAX I own, I actually compare pretty directly to my HD600 in terms of overall FR. At least that's what my ears tell me. When I first got my SR207, I likened it to an HD600 with about a +2dB bump across the board, more or less. L700 keeps...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Having done the Lawton mod, but just going from memory.....I agree, Dynamat is the closest I could come to it from my (very limited) experience; but at the same time, no, it isn't that. I'd have no idea where you could find the same material.
