Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
I agree, the GSX 1000 is a step in the right direction and had potential, but has too many problems for me to keep it. I'm also crossing my fingers for a v2/GSX2000. Because I like the idea, but the actual product just is not quite good enough. For the price you would think they could have...- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
Binaural cues, HRTF, reverberation and echos are the ways that humans localise sound. Reverberation is a key element in this system, and occurs when reverberant sound looses energy. The GSX had a go at adding a reverberation button that is not great. SBX may have more reverberation than you like...- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
I agree that testing CSGO isn't a comprehensive test, but from a competitive perspective it is a game that sound accuracy is very important in. I've always been happy with my set-up, but was intrigued by the competitive advantage the GSX could give me. This test was just to establish if the GSX...- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
I Un-boxed my GSX that was ready to be sent back to Amazon just to do more tests. I asked 10 people, both gamers and 'lay' people, to position a bot at a specific point in a map with their eyes shut, using only audio cues (CSGO). I then measured how far away they were from the point. The...- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
I'm really annoyed with the GSX for being good but not amazing. Although the surround is a little better than SBX, I've done blind tests with a few people and they can't really tell the difference. I've done accuracy tests in several games and have found no 'magic' ability of GSX to locate...- Thekarma

I used the 598 and the 598c, haven't tried the 600 yet. 598 is my go to gaming headphone.- Thekarma

I'll give it a bit more time but I'm pretty sure I'm sending back the GSX. It's just not different enough to warrant £190. I think if I didn't have an amp/dac already it would be a good upgrade, and for people who are running basic sound cards/on-board sound it could be a good purchase. The...- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
CMSS-3D is a bit better than SBX but not a lot, I have an X-FI Titanium and in the end chose to stick with the SBX as the positional was only marginally better with the X-FI, but for a substantial drop in SQ. I'll could dig out my X-FI and do a comparison but I could confidently guess...- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
So I've been playing around with the SBX software and the slider on surround does make a difference. If you stand in a game with a sound on your left with the surround slider to 0 or off and take of your left ear cup/bud you will hear nothing in your right ear. As you slide the surround up the...- Thekarma

Wow the SBX slider really does very little, thanks for the information. I've just found out that when I was switching audio device that csgo was going back to stereo speakers every time.. So I've effectively been testing SBZ stereo vs GSX stereo. Doh. I'm going to take some time to retest...- Thekarma

With Surround off on the SBZ you are just listening to stereo; try the default (67%). Windows speakers set to 5.1, csgo speakers set to 5.1 and SBZ set to headphones.- Thekarma

Were you plugged directly into the headphone port on the sbz? What did you have your surround set to in the SBX studio? Thanks :)- Thekarma

Sennheiser GSX 1000 / 1200 Impressions
I've been using the GSX 1000 for a few hours on different games. I was expecting to be blown away by the difference coming from and Soundblaster Z (SBZ); I'm really not. I play CSGO and think the positional audio is very similar, but the SBZ seems a little less ambiguous in some places IMHO...- Thekarma

598SE vs. 598C vs. 598SE+598C
Has anyone recently added the 598C to their collection? I've been a die hard 598SE fan for a while now, and I was interested to see how the new 598C compare. I decided that the 598SE were better for gaming due to a slightly larger sound stage, more comfort (less clamping force) and less heat...- Thekarma

Sennheiser Game One or Sennheiser HD 598?
Hi, So I've just sold my Game One's.. I did a little review http://www.head-fi.org/products/sennheiser-g4me-one-over-ear-gaming-headset/reviews/15297 If I was just gaming and hadn't listened to my 598's the Game One's would be perfect. I would definitely recommend them to any of my...- Thekarma

SMSL Sap II or Objective 2
I have just been using the SMSL Sap II for a week or two and it has really improved the audio from my sound-blaster z. Running at 100% on the sound-blaster has widened the sound stage and improved SQ. I've set up the Sap with a much lower gain and everything sounds good. The Sap is also a nice...- Thekarma

Sound card for virtual surround headphone?
I've tried Razer, CMSS 3D, Dolby and SBX. SBX is by far my favourite virtual surround. I run a Soundblaster Z (I'm very happy with it) but you can get just the software and run with your on-board sound-card for $29.99! http://software.store.creative.com/p/software/sound-blaster-x-fi-mb3- Thekarma

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Using the SMSL Sap II (same opamp as Fiio E9), I also tried through my SoundBlaster Z (600ohm amp apparently). I did think maybe a better quality amp might improve the 600 further; not sure if I'm prepared to go that route yet... My friend has a recording studio and has all sorts of amps and...- Thekarma

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
If anyone is interested I've now had the chance to compare the HD600 with an amp, to the 598SE. The only difference I can tell is a little, and I mean a little, bit more clarity on the hd600. The amp did not improve the sound stage as I had hoped. The 598's sound a little warmer but still nice...- Thekarma

Review by 'Thekarma' on item 'Sennheiser G4ME ONE Over-Ear Gaming Headset'
So the Game One seemed like the answer to all my gaming needs, especially as an upgrade to my ageing Logitech G430/230. An integrated volume control and mutable mic go towards this being an amazing all round headset for gaming. The build quality is very nice and I love the styling of the headset...- Thekarma

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Damn so I need some 700's now!!! So I got the 600's cheap, and now I kind of wish I hadn't. They are just a little different; not amazingly different. Just enough that now they both seem flawed. The 600's sound stage feels just too small and the 598's seem a little less detailed and...- Thekarma
